Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin gives us an alternate and detailed re-telling of the first Final Fantasy game, complete with classic Final Fantasy enemies in crisp 3D and fully realized mission locations that you'll want to explore. Unfortunately, much like the original Final Fantasy—you cannot jump while exploring or when in battle.
This is fairly disappointing, as the game builds beautiful and detailed maps for you to run through, but these maps are frighteningly linear, keeping you on a specific track and relegating your movement to sprinting and dashing through (usually) narrow corridors, with no vertical movement in play whatsoever.

There are certain areas throughout the game where you may find opportunities to ambush enemies from elevated surfaces. These instances, however, usually only consist of you dropping something on unsuspecting enemies below, and then falling into the battle with an attack that may or may not hit.
