Col and Beryl out here being cuties.

After waking in a mysterious dungeon and being rescued, you'll be able to pull characters from banners to add to your team as you adventure through the game world. Although you'll be able to train up your squad, each character in Sword of Convallaria has their own unique skills. This Sword of Convallaria tier list will ensure you don't waste your time on unskilled characters when playing.

Sword of Convallaria Tier List - All Sword of Convallaria characters, ranked

At first glance, there are significantly more characters than those you'll see listed in the Sword of Convallaria character tier list below. This is because there are a number of rare and common characters that act as additional squad members. They don't have actual names (just titles), and will never appear as the main character of any banner.

For example, you may pull characters like "Outlaw Axeman" and "Crimson Falcon." In the grand scheme of things, these kinds of characters are just foot soldiers. There's no point spending your time or effort ranking them up unless you really want to.

Best characters in Sword of Convallaria - S-Tier characters

There are five characters in Sword of Convallaria that I consider S-Tier. They're the best of the best, offering a comprehensive skill set, buffs and debuffs, and Auras that will help you ensure your victory over your opponents.

Beryl

Beryl is an absolute powerhouse in Sword of Convallaria and easily ranks as an S-Tier character. This quirky little Sorceress has magic damage output that is through the roof, making her a force to be reckoned with in any battle.

With her wide attack range and devastating AoE spells, Beryl can wipe out enemies in a flash, all while providing solid support to her team. She has a versatile skill set that includes health and energy recovery, adding to her utility and making her indispensable in various team compositions.

If you're looking to dominate with massive damage and still have the flexibility for support, Beryl is definitely worth investing your time into ranking up.

Col

Col's mobility is unmatched, allowing her to jump around the battlefield and navigate tricky terrain effortlessly. When she's on her own, Col becomes even deadlier with a nice 5% boost to Crit and P.ATK, making her a formidable lone wolf to have in your squad in case the rest of your characters die.

Her ability to turn invisible, combined with health recovery, ensures she stays in the fight longer, while her aura skill gives significant attack bonuses to allies, adding great team utility. Col's assassination skills let her slip behind enemies, take them out swiftly, and then move again in the same turn.

With her strong self-healing and evasion skills, she can survive tough encounters and continue dishing out damage. If you're looking to add a sneaky, high-damage rogue to your team, Col is definitely worth ranking up. At the time of writing - August 5, 2024 - Col is also on a banner for Sword of Convallaria, so you have a chance to get her for your team.

Dantalion

Dantalion easily earns his S-Tier status with his blend of physical and magic damage, wide attack range, and versatile offensive skills. As the eldest prince of Iria, he’s not just a ruler but a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. His defense is top-notch, boasting health recovery, reduced melee damage, and resistance to debuffs, making him incredibly hard to take down.

Dantalion's Iria Aura not only boosts his allies' attack but also debuffs enemies, adding a strategic edge to any fight. His crowd control abilities, with strong AoEs, ensure that he can handle multiple foes at once. Plus, he synergizes beautifully with many other characters, making him a core addition to any team. For tough battles where you need a reliable DPS unit, Dantalion’s defensive and offensive buffs ensure he gets stronger as the fight goes on. If you’re looking to dominate in Sword of Convallaria, investing in Dantalion is a smart move.

Gloria

Armed with the Lance of Longinus, Gloria has exceptional offense and defense. Her multiple AoE damage skills can devastate groups of enemies, while her defensive abilities reduce frontal damage and even grant damage immunity, keeping her safe in the thick of battle.

Gloria's Flag Waving aura is a game-changer, boosting attack, defense, and movement speed for her allies right from the start, without compromising her own damage output. She transitions smoothly from AoE attacks to powerful single-target strikes as the battle progresses, making her incredibly versatile.

If you need a strong DPS or a reliable support character, Gloria fits perfectly into various team compositions, especially those from The Union of The Knight States.

Inanna

Inanna is, without a doubt, the best support character in Sword of Convallaria. Inanna excels in both single-target and group healing, can dispel debuffs, and provides passive healing buffs, keeping your team alive and kicking.

Her high magic resistance and skill to reduce single-target damage make her surprisingly durable. What really sets her apart is her ability to summon personal guards to block attacks and her unique re-action mechanism, giving your team an extra layer of defense. Inanna can even grant allies an extra turn, making her invaluable if you find yourself in a tight spot. If you manage to roll her from a banner, you'll find that she fits perfectly into any team composition and becomes a mainstay in your party.

Unfortunately, you don't start your game with any of these amazing characters. You do, however, start with B-Tier Maitha and Faycal. Until you manage to pull an S-Tier Sword of Convallaria character from a banner, putting a bit of time into Maitha and Faycal won't be a bad thing.

A-Tier characters in Sword of Convallaria

The Vlderians in Sword of Convallaria.

A-Tier characters in Sword of Convallaria consist of Alexei, LilyWill, Magnus, Momo, NonoWill, and Nungal. Of these, two belong to the Vlderians - LilyWill and NonoWill, pictured above in the middle and on the right. A character in A-Tier falls just below being the best of the best. You shouldn't be disappointed to get them on your team at all. They're good fighters and offer versatile skills.

Alexei

Alexei has high damage output, enhanced by life-stealing effects, which allows him to stay in the fight longer. Additionally, his strong counterattack capabilities make him a formidable opponent in melee combat. However, he falls short of S-Tier because he lacks the consistent and widespread utility offered by characters like Dantalion.

LilyWill

As an archer, LilyWill excels at hitting targets from afar, ignoring obstacles, and benefiting from high critical hit and critical damage bonuses. Her ultimate skill offers high versatility and significant range, while her strong passive skills enhance her attack power and convert flat shots into direct shots, making her a reliable damage dealer.

However, LilyWill falls short of S-Tier status due to her specialized nature and situational strengths. While she excels in dealing damage from a distance, her effectiveness depends on her positioning.

Magnus

Magnus can passively weaken the attack and defense of nearby enemies, which makes him invaluable for crowd control. Not only that, his explosive AoE attacks can deal significant damage to multiple targets.

Magnus' main strength lies in his ability to weaken enemies and provide AoE damage, but he doesn't offer the same level of comprehensive support or versatility that S-Tier characters do. Like LilyWill, his positioning is crucial.

Momo

While Momo excels in dealing damage over time and providing strong AoE attacks, her effectiveness relies heavily on positioning and the presence of DoT effects.

Unlike S-Tier characters such as Beryl or Inanna, who offer a more comprehensive range of abilities and can adapt to various battle scenarios, Momo's strengths are more situational. Her role is somewhat niche, focusing on amplifying DoT effects and relying on synergy with specific characters for optimal performance.

NonoWill

NonoWill is excellent at debuffing enemies and supporting her allies, and has significant team benefits like damage buffs and group dispel. Her strengths lie in her debuffing and supportive role, but she lacks the same level of offensive power and game-changing abilities that S-Tier characters possess. Her effectiveness is heavily reliant on her ability to avoid damage and stay mobile, which can be less reliable in certain situations.

Nungal

As a skilled crossbow-using sniper, Nungal excels in dealing substantial damage from a distance with her extended attack range. Her high damage output, particularly with her ultimate skill, makes her a strong asset in any battle.

Nungal's effectiveness is situational and heavily reliant on specific team compositions and equipment to reach her full potential. She needs to be positioned carefully behind allies for protection, which can limit her flexibility in dynamic combat situations.

B-Tier characters in Sword of Convallaria

I have two of the four Mercenaries of Sword of Convallaria in B-Tier, so a group photo seemed like a good choice. As I mentioned at the end of the S-Tier set, there's absolutely nothing wrong with putting some time into Maitha and Faycal, considering you get them both near the start of the game. B-Tier characters are the middle-ground of Sword of Convallaria. If you're struggling for S-Tier and A-Tier characters, B-Tier will work just fine. They're average fighters with average defense.

Faycal

Faycal is known for his high damage output and aggressive playstyle, with a passive skill that boosts his attack and defense while inflicting random debuffs on enemies. But, his reliance on single-target damage makes him worse in combat than other characters who can wipe the floor with their enemies. While effective against some bosses, his abilities aren't very adaptable.

Garcia

Garcia has swift maneuvers and strong single-target attacks, often focusing on critical hits and movement. She's not much different from Faycal, so it makes sense for both of them to be in the same tier. Considering you'll get Faycal first, though, you may as well continue to level and rank him up instead of starting from scratch with Garcia.

Maitha

Maitha is a great supportive character, offering health recovery, damage absorption, and enemy knockbacks. But, her offensive potential is limited. While she appears early in the game, her skills become increasingly useless as you advance through your adventure.

It's best to switch Maitha out for another support/tank-type character as soon as you get the chance. NonoWill is a good choice for this role from the characters in A-Tier.

Rawiyah

Rawiyah is a great tank with health regeneration, high attack, and critical hit bonuses, along with powerful AoE attacks. While her Tipsy status may amplify her abilities, her focus on single-target damage is limiting.

Samantha

Samantha is an excellent healer with high magic resistance and the ability to reduce damage taken by allies. While she can provide group damage immunity and dispel debuffs, her lack of offensive capabilities and reliance on healing is her downfall.

C-Tier characters in Sword of Convallaria

Image via XD Entertainment

Of the Vlderians, only Iggy must be banished to the C-Tier list, so he gets highlighted in the screenshot here. If you're in C-Tier, you're having some back luck. These characters may help you get through a fight, but there's nothing new in their skillset that stands out, and definitely nothing to wow you.

Guzman

Guzman is a resilient frontline fighter with strong single-target attacks and the ability to sustain in battle, thanks to his high magic defense and life-stealing ultimate skill. He falls into the C-Tier because his effectiveness is heavily dependent on low health for his attack bonus and his resurrection ability, making him less consistent than B-Tier characters.

Iggy

Iggy is a ranged damage dealer who excels in area-of-effect attacks and crowd control. Despite these strengths, I consider him to be a C-Tier character because his skillset lacks any versatility. His focus on AOE attacks makes him useful in some combat situations, but his overall contribution to the team is less impactful than characters that are in higher tiers.

Leonide

Leonide can deal substantial damage and provide support with his elemental magic and crowd control abilities. His C-Tier rank comes from his lack of specialization. While he can adapt to various combat situations, his abilities are not as potent or reliable as those of B-Tier characters. He's just a bit boring, basically.

Miguel

Miguel is an assassin who focuses on critical hits, stealth, and single-target damage. Despite this deadly skill set, I ranked him C-Tier because his effectiveness relies on situational advantages like stealth and critical hits. This makes him less dependable than my chosen B-Tier characters, whose abilities are more consistent in combat. Sneaky assassins are only fun to have on your team if they can do their job correctly.

D-Tier characters in Sword of Convallaria

Finally, the D-Tier Sword of Convallaria characters. These are the absolute worst characters you could choose to waste your time on when deciding who to level up and rank up in your team. Not to be harsh, but they're basically space-fillers to keep your squad full when you're in combat and you don't want to use the nameless characters.

Nergal

Nergal is a tanky warrior capable of absorbing damage and disrupting enemy formations with taunts and damage reduction abilities. However, he falls into the D-Tier because his skillset lacks versatility and impact. While he can take hits, his offensive capabilities are weak, and his utility in battle is minimal compared to C-Tier characters who offer more balanced contributions to both offense and defense.

Teadon

Teadon is a senior knight who focuses on healing and buffing allies with his sword and shield. Despite his supportive role, he is ranked D-Tier due to his limited potential and lack of versatility. While he can provide some healing, his abilities are not strong enough to make a significant impact, making him a less valuable choice compared to C-Tier characters who offer more effective support and utility.

Xavier

Xavier has the potential to deal extra physical damage and diminish enemy healing abilities, with a powerful AoE attack and a passive skill that boosts his movement speed and regenerates energy. However, he is considered D-Tier because his strengths are heavily dependent on having enemies nearby, making him less consistent and reliable. His overall impact in battle is minimal, especially when compared to C-Tier characters who provide better contributions.

Remember that there are also nameless squad members who can fill in for named characters if you haven't pulled many yet. They may not be powerful, but they can still do some damage and take damage so that your main characters aren't getting hit all of the time.
