What does rebuilding damaged statues do in Lord of the Rings Return to Moria?

Dwarves are known for their craftsmanship with stone in The Lord of the Rings, and this carries over to The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. While exploring Moria, I encountered numerous damaged statues in need of repair.

Repairing statues seemed like a less important thing than surviving against goblins and wolves; still, I wondered whether I should rebuild damaged statues and what they do in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.

What happens when you rebuild damaged statues in LotR Return to Moria?

Once you rebuild a damaged statue in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, you unlock a random crafting recipe. With numerous statues to encounter on your journey, you can acquire multiple recipes. However, you may also encounter other statues, called Monuments of Durin, which provide a helpful buff instead of a recipe.

How to repair damage statues in Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria

You cannot repair damaged statues in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria without crafting the iron hammer. Once you have this tool, you can approach and interact with broken statues. If you have the necessary material, ten stones, your character will repair the statue and allow you to claim your reward. The Monument to Durin II is repaired in the same manner.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria - Damaged Statues vs. Durin Monuments

Damaged statues are encountered more often and give players random crafting recipes. Monuments to Durin II give the player the Undaunted buff. It reads:

  • The power of Durin flows through Khazad-dûm. Bonus to stamina, health, energy, cures despair.

How to craft an iron hammer in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria

You can craft an iron hammer from your crafting menu. You must have the necessary materials and advanced far enough to unlock this recipe. Simply open your menu, navigate to the Crafting tab, and craft the Iron Hammer with the materials below. You can repair iron hammers using the Repair Smithy.
