Before making a First Age Pickaxe, we recommend completing the Forge a Steel Pickaxe quest. Completing the quest is a required step, as you need Steel ingots and a Steel Pickaxe before you can make the First Age Pickaxe. Completing the quest will also unlock the crafting recipe for making a First Age pickaxe in Return to Moria.

That said, you can complete the quest by repairing the Great Forge of Narvi with Replacement Gears and Cranks. You can make these Replacement Gears and Cranks via the Forge with three Iron Ingots.

After repairing the Great Forge of Narvi, you can make a First Age Pickaxe using the following materials:

  • Three Steel Ingots.
  • One Black Diamond.
  • Four Ubasam Wood.
