While so-called hot tub streamers are a fad that seems to by dying out on Twitch, for some the trend won't disappear fast enough. That’s why it may be necessary to block, hide, or otherwise remove them from your recommendations. Here’s how to block seeing hot tub streamers on Twitch.
How to say you’re “Not Interested” in Hot Tub Streams
Twitch has a built in way of hiding streams that you won’t be interested in. This can be done from both the Front Page of Twitch and the All Categories section, but nowhere else on the website. To do this, navigate on Twitch to the Categories section on the Front Page or to the All Categories page, then find the Pools, Hot Tubs, & Beaches category. Click the three vertical dots at the side of the category and select the Not Interested button, with a little eye crossed-out icon. This will add it to your Not Interested list, and you won’t be recommended these channels anymore.
Why are Hot Tub Streamers still showing up on my recommendations?
If you’ve followed these steps, and are still seeing hot tub streamers, there may be a few reasons. Twitch works on an algorithm, and if you’ve previously watched hot tub streamers, you’ll still be recommended their streams. The best way to avoid this is to directly select the Not Interested option when you’re recommended them on the Front Page.
Additionally, some streamers may attempt to evade this by not using the correct categories. In this case, you are able to report streamers for not using the correct category. You can also attempt to block wider streaming categories, such as Just Chatting or IRL, by selecting Not Interested on the Front Page or All Categories section. This will avoid the majority of hot tub streams.
Unfortunately there is no fool proof way to block all types of a particular content on Twitch right now, and a streamer who appears on the Front Page can still bypass your Not Interested list. You can view and remove things from your Not Interested list at any time by heading to your Profile, selecting Settings, and then Recommendations. Here you can remove any of the streams or categories you might want to start seeing again.
