Unicorn Overlord boasts an impressive number of classes to suit every playstyle, but some have proven more effective in combat compared to others. After thorough research and testing, I've found the best classes in Unicorn Overlord to include in your army.

The classes listed below are ranked based on their active skills, strengths, and weaknesses, and how well they mesh with other units on the field. Unlike other RPGs and JRPGs, Unicorn Overlord's turn-based combat is automated, meaning you're only able to move and initiate attacks on the map, as well as choose formations and units before battles.

10. Fighter

Speed, mobility, and damage are what the Fighter is all about. The Fighter serves as a basic infantry unit, using Arrow Cover to nullify ranged attacks against his allies and the Shield Bash to stun an enemy unit. The Fighter bodes well against Hunters, but Warriors and magick attacks are his Achilles' heel.

9. Housecarl

The Housecarl bypasses enemy units' defenses to deliver powerful attacks, but its weak Defense and no healing powers make it susceptible to counterattacks. Use the Housecarl sparingly and choose your battles to get the most out of this guerilla unit.

8. Swordfighter

The Swordfighter is a beefier version of the Housecarl, boasting good Evasion stats and a great Critical Rate. Its hit-and-run fighting style is great for delivering damaging blows, but avoid Hunters and other more accurate units.

7. Paladin

The first Paladin you'll come across is Josef, the toughest and most experienced fighter in the land. Paladins are powerful units that work best when placed in the front row, protecting their allies and restoring their Health using magick. Flying enemies can cause trouble, so use Featherswords to protect the Paladin from aerial attacks.

6. Feathersword

As mentioned above, the Feathersword is an anti-air unit that's also effective against scouts. Apart from Shieldshooters, they'll take on every unit in Unicorn Overlord thanks to impressive Magick Defense and Evasion stats, making him a well-balanced brawler.

5. Warrior

Warriors are the most well-balanced unit in the game, giving you great Physical Attack and excellent Anti-Armor abilities to pierce armored units. They're decent against all unit types and will reinforce any army type.

4. Wizard

The Wizard decimates Hoplites and all unit types vulnerable to Magick. Wizards use Fireballs to blast enemies and inflict high damage, but you'll need to protect them against Radiant Knights and Hunters.

3. Gladiator

Gladiators are the powerhouses in Unicorn Overlord, dealing high-damage blows that can decimate rows of enemies. They're high-HP units with increased attack potency as long as you keep their health bar at 100 percent, and they're excellent at destroying barriers and gates, thanks to their Leader Effect.

2. Dark Lord

Dark Lords are equally great in attacking and defending, with attacks boasting Afflictions and the ability to regenerate Health when garrisoned. Easily the second-best unit in the game!

A unit that knows no weakness, the Lord is a powerful unit that excels in any position, with the ability to heal during attacks and cover one ally with a medium guard. A true valiant warrior!
