How to farm gold in Vampire Survivors

Rolling in gold!

In Vampire Survivors, gold is used to buy Power Ups, so naturally, you’d want as much gold as possible. Power Ups can make levels easier to clear, and generally give you an advantage. It’s the main way of progressing through the game. But what’s the best way of farming gold on Vampire Survivors?

There are several methods of farming gold in Vampire Survivors. Some involve power-ups, others involve using specific levels and in-round builds to maximize how much gold you’re able to pick up.

Power Ups for Gold Farming

The best Power Up for gold farming is naturally Greed. Greed grants you 10% more coins per level, up to a maximum of 50%. It’s also one of the cheaper powerups making it very efficient.

Overall, if you’re farming gold you should always be running at least 3 ranks of greed before anything else. Good secondary powerups to prioritize are Magnet and Move Speed. These two Power Ups make the actual process of farming gold easier but aren’t as efficient as Greed.

Finally, Luck increases the amount of Rich Coin Bag pickup items you find, making it great for advanced gold farming.

Best Levels for Gold Farming

Without a doubt, the best level for gold farming is Il Molise. A bonus level that’s unlocked by unlocking hyper mode for any normal stage, this level has no real enemies, just static plants that deal damage if you walk into them.

It’s also filled with pots that contain bonus gold, only takes 15-minutes to complete, and has a readily unlockable hyper mode. If you’re farming gold, you should always be running levels on hyper mode. Hyper mode increases enemy health by 60% but adds a +50% gold bonus to all gold collected.

Strategies in-game for Gold Farming

To best optimize your gold farming, you’ll need to focus on taking down lanterns, lamp posts, torches, etc. All the objects that drop gold in addition to items. While it's important to have good weapons, you may want to focus on two or three weapons with evolutions, to leave space for Passive Items that enhance gold generation.

Always get the Stone Mask when farming gold. It generates +10% more coins per level, up to 50% max. If you have the Stone Mask, maximum Greed, and are on Hyper Mode, you can generate 150% more gold generated. This means for every single gold coin you collect, you get 2.5 gold.

Types of gold pickups

There are three types of gold pickups in Vampire Survivors that you should familiarise yourself with. Below we’ve listed them and their values

  • Gold Coin - one gold
  • Coin Bag - 10 gold
  • Rich Coin Bag -100 gold

Rich Coin Bags increase in drop rate depending on Luck. That would make Exdash one of the best characters to farm gold with. Unfortunately, his abilities are so underwhelming, it’s often more efficient to farm with any other character with the Luck Power Up maxxed out.
