How to unlock Mask of the Red Death in Vampire Survivors

The hardest character to unlock

The Mask of the Red Death is one of the several secret characters in Vampire Survivors. A fearsome grim-reaper-like figure, the Mask of the Red Death starts with an evolved weapon, the Death Spiral. However, they are almost impossible to unlock.

To unlock the Mask of the Red Death, you have to defeat Death. Death is the 30-minute boss, and instantly kills the player, dealing 65,535 HP worth of damage the moment they hit you.

Death also takes -50% knockback, meaning they’re actively pushed towards the player when damaged. Death has HP equal to 655,350 times the player's level. So if you’re level 50, Death will have 32,767,500 HP.

The only way to defeat Death is to cheese him somehow. Whether you can stun lock him with the Clock Lancet, somehow survive with a low level meaning his HP remains low, or otherwise defeat him using some kind of game modification.

When unlocked, the Mask of the Red Death is one of the best characters in the game. Starting with an evolved weapon means you’re effectively unkillable until the 30-minute mark, when Death spawns.
