The long-running Mana series is coming to Xbox with Visions of Mana. If you're a big Square Enix fan like me, then you're no doubt wondering when you'll be able to get your hands on the upcoming JRPG.
When does Visions of Mana come out?
While we don't have a concrete release date nailed down, Square Enix confirmed Visions of Mana will be arriving Summer 2024 during the Xbox Developer Direct. That gives us a three-month window between June and September, which could potentially become a rather short wait overall.
The Mana series has traditionally skipped Xbox, with 2020's Trials on Mana releasing on PS4, Switch, and Windows, so Visions coming to Microsoft's console is a big deal. It'll be arriving Xbox Series X|S as well as PC. Since this was an Xbox showcase, only those two platforms were revealed, but it's tough to imagine it not coming to PS5 in the future.
What is Visions of Mana?
Visions of Mana is just the fifth main installment in the series, but it has remained a big name over the years thanks to the risks it took, like Heroes of Mana being a real-time strategy game, for example. Visions of Mana will be a return to the action RPG roots that made it popular to begin with, and that's great news for fans of the series.
The bad news is fans on Xbox who get into the series will likely be disappointed as they'll have to go to other platforms to play through the older titles. Luckily, the games don't have an overarching story to follow, so you're perfectly fine jumping in with Visions of Mana, much like you would be starting with Final Fantasy XVI.
