The Solder archetype is one of Rogue Trader's most versatile when it comes to the scope of talent choices they have access to. Many of their talents fit several roles, so here are some of the best you can take in the game.

Top Soldier Talents in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader

The talents below are considered useful in most builds and provide drastic power spikes during combat in Rogue Trader.

Trace the Trajectory

When taking this Talent, the Soldier gains access to guaranteed Critical Strikes against targets they Dodge or evade via Cover. As Rogue Trader has a significant focus on cover-based gameplay, this talent is extremely powerful for every Soldier build.

Integrity

By merely being at full health, the Soldier gains a whopping +10 to Ballistic Skill and +2 MP (Movement) when taking this talent. The key to making best use of this Talent (i.e. keeping it active at all times), is to ensure that your party has access to reliable heals and/or constant shields.

Exploit Surroundings

Provides a 10% Particial Cover bonus and a 20% Full Cover bonus just by taking this Talent. For Soldiers looking to stick to walls, this Talent always has a use no matter how late in Rogue Trader they are. It is a staple Talent that all Soldiers should choose.

Unpredictable

A Soldier's job is to dish out strong ranged damage every turn, and Unpredictable is one of the best Talents to choose for that job. It grants a significant bonus to Critical Chance based on Agility. The best part? The more Agility a Soldier has, the better this Talent gets.

Tenderise

Soldiers looking to aid their allies by softening up enemies at no additional cost can take Tenderise to do so. By using Area Attacks, Soldiers with this Talent can cause targets affected to suffer increased damage from the very next source of damage that hits said targets. Flamers are fantastic for this as they pretty much only cast Area Attacks.

Muzzle Velocity

Soldiers using Burst Attacks can utilize the Muzzle Velocity Talent to great effect. It causes Burst Attacks to deal more damage based on the Soldier's equipped rate of fire.

Unfaltering Fire

Soldiers especially focused on Burst Attacks can also use the Unfaltering Fire Talent, which removes the drastic damage penalty from their Rapid Fire ability. This Talent provides an enormous damage boost despite its simplicity.
