How to manage your Codex in Wartales - Guide

You’ll open access to the Codex system once you have access to the Lectern in your camp. Next, you’ll need to enter and complete the Tombs you’ll find in each region, in which you will find parts of various codices, as well as Runes. Both are crucial to Codex management. You’ll then need to assign one of your party to be a Scholar as their secondary skill and assign them to the Lectern

Once assigned, right-click the Lectern in camp and select Codex Management in the pop-up Lectern window (see above). Once done, choose one of the Chapters you have in the Inventory on the left so that you have all the Runes you need to decipher it. This will take several completed tombs to do, as each only has a few runes.

Codex Management - How to restore a complete Codex

If you have all the runes you need, you’ll open a puzzle you need to begin the restoration of the Codex (see above). You’ll be faced with seven runes, three of which are the ones you need. Select three, click Restoration, and the Research section will tell you how many were correct.

You have unlimited attempts, so keep ruling out combinations until you have the correct three runes. Once you do, if you have the runes you need, you’ll get a notification that you have restored the Codex successfully. You can now click the Deciphering button beneath the restored Codex to find a clue.

You’ll need to do this for each chapter of a Codex to complete it (each Codex has three chapters). If you still need Runes, the Codex chapter will continue to have a question mark on it in the Codex Management screen until you find the remaining runes. Note that you can also check your progress via the Compendium on the Runes and Codices tab

Once you have completely restored a Codex, each part will give you a clue to the location of a Sepluchre Door that can be found in a region. When you next arrive in that region, the Sepulchre Door will be displayed on your map (see image above). Once at the door go inside and use the clues you have (the three symbols) to open the door. You’ll enter a treasure room, where you can pick up some nice freebies such as Legendary items.
