Wartales – Full Drombach County Region Map & Locations Guide

If you’re playing Wartales in region-locked mode, Drombach offers the biggest challenge outside of the DLC. If you’re heading into this tough snow-covered region, read on for my full Drombach County region map and location guide.

Locations guide and full map for Wartales Drombach County

Below you’ll find a full list of Drombach County locations, which I’ve marked on the map above. The region used to show 34 locations but there were always only 33. If you find this area too tough, I’d suggest instead heading to Grinmeer Province. It’s also possible to mix and match this area with exploring the DLC content, the Belerion Archipelago.

I’ve included a few extra sections at the end of the guide covering a couple of things unique to this area. You will sometimes be questioned by the Inquisition and to avoid a battle, you’ll need to answer some questions correctly. This area also has quite the boss battle at the end of the scenario quest. So, if you’re looking for Inquisition question answers or a guide to fighting the Misshapen Creeper King, scroll to the end of the guide.

  1. Iron Hoof Stables: Self-contained Scenario Quest, including a level 10 battle.
  2. Rat infestation: A standard rat infestation.
  3. New-Asthel: Two normal quests (All Consuming Faith, self-contained; and The Price of Drinking, where you need to find the Innkeeper). The Price of Drinking is tied to the start of Scenario Quest, Behind the Inquisition’s Back (question Inquisitor Clelia, to the southwest).
The town also has a Trading Post, Apothecary, Forge, Inn, and Church, so it is advisable to go here as early as possible.
  4. Icy Bay Lighthouse: Bandit hideout (level 11). Once defeated, you can talk to NPC Sisegart. He asks you to escort him to Sant Serene Church in New-Asthel. Once taken, Sisegart gives you the Drombach Bandit’s Treasure Map.
There are also three chests you can lockpick to get items including a Knowledge Book and some level 10 Pirate’s Heavy Armour.
  5. Pitta Bridge: Requires 20 Sandstone to fix. The bridge will be repaired a few days later.
  6. Icy Bay Fishery: Traditional Values quest. To free the slaves, first, speak to them at night and then find the Harag Warriors (at the Inconspicuous Camp) and tell them about the slaves. When you release them, each will earn you 70-80 Wanted Status.
  7. Roust Field: You need to complete a self-contained quest here (Dig Site) before you can play. Click the tomb inscription by the barrels to get started (it needs to be researched by a Scholar for four rests).
  8. Lisbeth’s Arena: The usual arena challenges.
  9. Inconspicuous Camp: Liberators quest. Speak to Gottann once you’ve been to the Ice Bay Fishery (above). Then go back there and free the slaves after dark.
  10. Old Glorio’s Sheepfold: The Real Isold is the name of the self-contained quest here. The correct answer is dark-haired Isold. Choosing this will start a level 10 battle.
  11. Forgotten Cave: Place 10 Bombs in the Crevice inventory after inspecting the boulder, then use a torch.
  12. Sepulchre Door: This is the location you arrive at once you have completed the Admiral’s Codex, which you can find in Belerion’s Tomb in the Belerion Archipelago. The reward is Enlil’s Wrench, a legendary belt accessory (its wearer cannot miss with a Precision Attack).
  13. Brotherhood Training Grounds: Standard skill books and upgrades.
  14. Drombach Jail: No prisoners can be handed in here (see Inquisition Camp). It does have the Sword enemies quest (self-contained). All you need to do to complete it is hire one of the two prisoners. Heleth is a Warrior and Gunbald is a Ranger (both level 11 if region-locked). You can hire both, but they will always hate each other.
  15. Inquisition Camp: You can hand over prisoners here. You will also get the final Scenario Quest here, but you have to wait to be summoned to the camp to meet Inquisitor Emeria. I got this after getting to 40 percent in the Scenario Quest. You have to take her with you and investigate several bodies in the region (all marked on the map).
  16. Trackers Camp: Hunt the Drombach Pack quest. You’ll find the corpse that starts the hunt directly north of the tracker’s camp by the river at the edge of the trees. Take the path that goes to the jail, and head east just before the bridge on the south side. You’ll get the Reinforced Layer of the Ermine (Movement +1, Dexterity +2) as a reward, along with its Blueprint.
  17. Bandit’s Lair: Well defended, level 12. Once liberated you’ll find a few items, including the Burning Collar and Poisoned Collar recipes, while also gaining access to a Black Market Agent offering several skill books and the Ear Net blueprint (gives an animal 20 percent extra XP).
  18. Mount Ernst Haven: Tavern, no quest or missions.
  19. Rimesteel Mine: Two nodes, giving high-quality ore.
  20. Valiant Tower: quest location for the Innkeeper Scenario Quest.
  21. Trapper Hut: Former Arena champion Waltraud lives here. Win in Lisbeth’s Arena, then return, to complete the quest Stealing the Show and gain access to a new skill (the Brawler specialization).
  22. Ganderwald Castle: The home of NPC Fulrad Adr Ganderwald, who claims the castle is haunted (quest called The Curse of Harag). Go upstairs to the cursed room and choose a character to sleep there. You will temporarily lose that character. Head downstairs again for a level 10 Crocswine battle. Afterward, move to the forge here and talk to the Harag spirit. Choose to threaten (100 Suspicion) or persuade (100 Influence) them to complete the quest.
Other than this, I couldn’t find anything else of interest. However, the location of the Bandit’s Treasure (you can find it after getting the map from the Bandit’s Lair), including a Master Pickaxe backpack accessory, is just to the north. The location is just south of the Inquisition Camp, so it's a handy spot to use another piton so that you have a quick route back to New-Asthel.
  23. Mount Ernst Cave: This is where you eventually need to go to find the Innkeeper for the scenario quest Save the Innkeeper (which starts in New-Asthel), and the self-contained quest here, Divine Punishment. It’s a level 12 battle against six White Bears (region-locked). Afterward, you’ll meet Silric, decide his fate (both choices cost 100 Influence and the decision doesn’t seem to affect anything else), and complete 20 percent of the Scenario Quest. There are also two mining nodes here.
  24. Rat infestation: A standard rat infestation.
  25. Hulburg: Village with a Forge, Apothecary, and Inn (with Emissary).
  26. Drombach Castle: A Forge, plus the start of a Scenario Quest.
  27. Drombach Stables: Recieve the quest titled Abduction. You’ll need to head north along the path and battle the bandits near the cursed village to progress.
  28. Sophy Adr Alisarian Lab: Get the quest Legendary Creatures upstairs, which sends you off in search of dragon bones in Grinmere, Ludern, and Arthes (it marks the locations on your map).
Downstairs, you can also pick up a Scenario Quest (completed at the cursed village above). Once complete, wait a short while and you’ll be summoned back to the lab once more for a battle with 20 plague-ridden.
  29. Cursed Village of Astel: This is the scenario quest location from the Sophy Adr Alisarian Lab. You’ll need to capture three cursed villages, so make sure you bring at least three chains with you. Chains can be bought from the jail.
There’s no need to worry about being quiet here, as you need the battles to happen.
You can find a Golden Key in the forge.
  30. Gruesome Cave: There’s a self-contained quest here that involves a tough battle (level 12).
  31. Drombach Tomb: This is largely a standard tomb, but you will have to return here as part of the scenario quest for a tough battle. If you want to explore but haven’t got the scenario quest yet, you can ignore the passage west from the room with the floor tile puzzle. You’ll know the room if you do go in, as you’ll see two people arguing.
You can just go back but if you have the scenario quest, talk to Hilgar and then activate the lever on the wall and head north. This begins a level 12 boss battle with the Creeper King, one of the toughest battles in Drombach. I’ve made some notes on the battle below. After the battle, examine the relic in the room.
  32. Celestial Mountain Gate: This starts as a defended location. You will be sent here later as part of the final Drombach Scenario Quest. You’ll need to decide to back either the soldiers or the zealots in a large battle outside the gate. Afterward, you’ll have completed another 20 percent of the Scenario Quest.
  33. Celestium: This location only becomes available (via Mount Ernst Cave) once you get to the final part of the Drombach Scenario Quest. The four scholars need a total of seven actions to examine the relic, so two full rounds if you keep them all alive. A small number of reinforcements will arrive in round two. You do not need to clear the enemies, simply allow the scholars to complete their research.

Misshapen Creeper King battle

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

This is a tough battle due to a couple of unique (and annoying!) abilities the boss, the Misshapen Creeper King, uses. These tips will help you get through the battle in one piece.

  1. Save the fight as it begins, before taking your first move (autosave will do it, but I don’t like to rely on that). This allows you to work out where the Creeper King will come from and restart, so you can get your best tank straight into action and make sure the troops you want doing damage are near the boss.
  2. Be careful where you place units you don’t control (such as allies). You don’t want them blundering into the damage/heal machine around the Creeper King. Better to leave them to tackle adds.
  3. When the Creeper King attacks with Serrated Talons, it will do massive damage to all units within 2m of it. Keep everyone but your tank out of this range whenever possible. This means practically adjacent to it, but you can see the details by selecting Creeper Kng and hovering over the Serrated Talons attack on its action bar.
  4. The Serrated Talons attack also draws units towards it from within 5m, making them immobile if within melee range afterward.
  5. The reason Serrated Talons is so deadly is that the Creeper King is going to attack with it several times in the same turn before you can move who/whatever is tanking it away. It will also heal for the damage dealt. Therefore any kind of damage reduction (such as the Encouragement skill) you can utilize is very valuable.
  6. While tough, the Creeper King can be dotted, so pile on as much poison, bleeding, etc as you can. Also, Weakness, Fragility, and other debuffs are great here.
  7. Don’t ignore the adds. It is pretty easy to quickly get your troops up to Galvanised, giving you a nice damage boost. The Creeper King can also use the adds to strengthen itself.
