Wo Long – Best Weapon types Tier List

Pick your poison...

Wo Long has a huge, diverse array of weapons you can use to slaughter demons, but not all weapons are created equal. Although I think the weapons are rather balanced, there must always be a best and worst, so below is a best weapon tier list for Wo Long Fallen Dynasty.

Best Weapons Tier List for Wo Long Fallen Dynasty

Weapons in Wo Long are all viable for all content, but due to the RPG nature of the game, some weapons are better for certain builds than others. As such, understand this tier list is entirely based on general performance rather than specialization. The following rankings are from Best to Worst:

1. Dual Sabres

Dual Sabres have speed and versatility that make them stand-out weapons among the entire roster. They have many strong Martial Arts to work with, and the curved variety have such an efficient move set that it is easy to mark these as the best.

2. Swords

Swords are like Dual Sabres, only with less DPS (Damage per Second) in general. However, where this weapon shines is in its Martial Arts, which are some of the absolute best in the entire game. Because of its short recovery times, they are also a great pairing for the active use of Wizardry.

3. Poleaxe

Although a very slow weapon with a long wind-up, the Poleaxe is a juggernaut when it comes to destroying Spirit. With access to the most damaging Martial Art in the game (on top of it being a counter), it's easy for me to say the Poleaxe deserves its spot on this list.

4. Curved Sabre

Curved Sabres are similar to Swords, but their Martial Arts generally lack in the range department. Their moveset, however, is smooth as butter and flows together well, making them a strong pick.

5. Dual Swords

Dual Swords and Dual Sabres are very similar and often share Martial Arts. However, Dual Swords' general moveset feels less fluid to use than some weapons higher and lower than others on this list.

6. Hammer

Like with the Poleaxe, Hammers are slow but hit really, really hard. However, in my experience they are significantly worst than Poleaxes due to their questionable Martial Arts. Still, Hammers are a strong pick as their general moveset is still strong for AOE (Area of Effect) situations.

7. Staff

Staves are decent weapons, but they lack the range and DPS to be considered top-tier. While they have some decent Martial Arts, they also have quite a few duds that are barely worth using.

8. Halberd

Halberds are a weird mix between a slow heavy-hitting weapon type and a fast-paced one due to the basic attack string offering both styles in spades. As such, it's an amazing weapon, but I find its unusual moveset can easily get you killed if you're not paying attention.

9. Glaive

The Glaive is like a Halberd that has decided to fully commit to being a heavy hitter. It is lower on this list because, unlike the Poleaxe or Hammer, it doesn't hit as hard, and requires Martial Arts to even be considered competitive.

10. Dual Halberds

Other than a few unique Martial Arts, I don't see Dual Halberds as doing anything better than either of its dual-wielding cousins. The only real advantage I can think of is its unique scaling that favours the Virtues with the most impact on your character (Wood; Fire; Earth).

11. Straight Sabre

Straight Sabres feel like Swords only with a much worst general moveset. They share almost all the same Martial Arts, but offer slightly differing scaling, making them solid alternatives when considering build options.

12. Slashing Spear

Slashing Spears are this low on the list because their general moveset is not very fluid to use. With their basic strings having several attacks in one input, it is very easy to get into trouble when using one. Spears feel oddly slow to use, and have access to many of the same dud Martial Arts that other pole-based weapons have. Their only real advantage is their superior range.

13. Spear

Practically identical to Slashing Spears only with much worse scaling toward the Virtues with the most impact on your character.
