Azerothian Archives is a brand new public added with the Seeds of Renwel update for WoW Dragonflight, and unlike most new events, it is rather on the unique side of the spectrum. Here are all the important details you should know about.
What is the Azerothain Archives event in WoW Dragonflight?
Unlike most of Dragonflight's events, Azerothian Archives is made for players more interested in the lore of Dragonflight, rather than player power. The event seeks to dive into the depths of the Dragon's Isle's rich past utilizing archaeology, akin to how we learn about the dinosaurs today. It will have you scouring the Dragon Isles for clues as you uncover more historical content to learn from.
This process is done through special World Quests that are unlocked once you complete the introduction questline: To the Archives! and the two directly following questlines Excavation 101 and Technoscrying 101.

To begin, all you need to do is go to Valdrakkan and find one of many flyers all over the city. Interact with one to begin the questline. Note that once the introduction questline has been completed, it is completed Account-Wide. Thank you, Blizzard.
How do Big Dig events work in WoW Dragonflight 10.2.5?
Big Dig events are the main public events for the Azerothian Archive event. They function very similarly to the Superbloom events of the Emerald Dream, as well as the Community Feast events that have been occurring since the beginning of Dragonflight. Just like those events, a Big Dig event will appear on your map somewhere located on the Dragon Isles. To participate, go to the event and interact with the current active objective. This could be as simple as picking things up or killing a dragon.
Completion of each component will reward you with several Mysterious Fragments, which is the Azerothain Archive's primary currency for purchasing event-related rewards.
