Everything we know about Dragon Riding in WoW Dragonflight

Take to the skies.

World of Warcraft's upcoming expansion, Dragonflight, is set to change how mounts are handled in the tenured MMORPG. As players venture into the Dragon Isles, they'll be handling their very own Dragon Isles Drake.

As players progress through the new zones and expansion, they will acquire four new Dragon Isles Drakes. These Drakes are customizable; players can choose the snout, wings, tails, armor, and more.

Throughout their journey, adventurers will pick up new Dragonriding abilities. These maneuvers will fend off both exhaustion and enemies keen on pulling the Drake back to the earth. There will be a level cap for Dragonriding, but once reached, players can track down ancient glyphs that will advance the skill tree. There will also be challenges to tackle that will unlock more customization options.

The engineers at Blizzard have implemented new physics for Dragonriding, and it's not your typical flying mount. Players will need to manage their dragon's stamina through a variety of moves like diving toward the ground and unfurling their mighty creature's wings to soar high up in the air.

Since it appears this feature will be available to players shortly after they arrive in the Dragon Isles, it is likely to address the common complaint of flying taking some time to arrive in the expansion. Either way, it all looks very promising.
