Blizzard Entertainment has been teasing the World of Warcraft's upcoming 'Pirate' patch for quite some time. We don't know all that much about it, but here's everything we do know, all in one place for you.
What is the Pirate update in World of Warcraft?
First things first, the Pirate Update is officially called Patch 10.2.6 and was actually on the roadmap Blizzard shared with the public several months ago. However, what we know about this update is still oddly little. Dataminers or Blizzard themselves usually reveal all the details for a patch, leaving no room for surprise.
This time, though, there seems to have been an extra effort to hide the upcoming patch's content, which, honestly, is a welcome surprise. Here's what we know so far:
- March 19 Release Date - Patch 10.2.6 is set to launch officially on March 19, so everything will be revealed in just a few short days.
- The Content is Secret - Blizzard has released no blogs or information relating to patch 10.2.6. Even the title, the "Pirate Patch" has been dubbed by the community.

- The only hint is a Pirate Flag - We're pretty sure this update has a lot to do with WoW's pirate world, as Blizzard posted a WoW Logo with a pirate theme on social media.
- Freehold is likely involved - Freehold is WoW's primer pirate dungeon, so expect this update to relate to it in some way.
- A new TImed Event - The final piece of information we know is that there is a new Timed Event coming with the update.
That is pretty much everything that's known about this update. Personally, I am a huge fan of Freehold and welcome any content that gives us an excuse to return to it. That said, I would temper expectations for this secret patch, as I don't think it's being considered a major one based on its naming conventions. Even so, we'll be there right on day one to get you all the information you need.
