Best free five-star Resonator (character) to pick in Wuthering Waves

Hooray for free five-stars!

With the launch of Wuthering Waves being met with a lot of bugs, errors, and other complications, players weren't very happy to discover most of them. Fortunately, Kuro Games understands and has given every 1.0 player a chance to choose their preferred five-star using a free Resonator ticket.

There are five characters, called Resonators, that you get to choose from, but who is the best one to pick?

All Wuthering Waves Standard Convene Resonator Picks, Ranked

We have to preface this article by saying that it is NOT worth rerolling in Wuthering Waves. All five characters—and Rover—are more than enough to get you through the main quest. Plus, WuWa actually gives you an opportunity to increase the odds of getting the standard Resonator you want after the Novice (50 pulls discounted) banner.

5. Lingyang

Lingyang was extremely lackluster in the Beta. While his kit looks cool on paper, and the character model is pretty sweet-looking, he just didn't perform up to expectations. His Outro seems like it should be the most powerful spell here, but he can't keep up with the rest of the five stars with it.

4. Jianxin

I have seen some arguments on Reddit and other communities online that Jianxin will be the best unit to choose in the Beginner's Choice Convene, mostly because of her shielding ability and auto parry. She also has a Venti-like ability to stack enemies. However, she was not great in the Beta due to some bugs; if Kuro does manage to fix her kit to work correctly, she will probably move much higher on this list.

3. Encore

Encore from Wuthering Waves.

Encore is still a strong character to choose, but it doesn't look like she'll be as powerful as Calcharo. Her Angry Cosmos Inherent relies on her having most of her HP intact, but her Outro is an amazingly powerful DoT. She wants to land heavy attacks when her Dissonance is full to start her damage reduction, as opposed to Calcharo's just needing to land basic attacks.

2. Calcharo

Calcharo will be an extremely powerful single-target DPS that will pair up well with the upcoming character Yinlin; he'll be fabulous for early-game boss battles. If you are looking for some incredible damage though, Calcharo is a great choice for your team.

His Outro attack creates a shadow copy of himself that attacks for 56% of his damage again, and he has some powerful inherent skills that reduce the damage taken while upping the damage to enemies.

1. Verina

Verina is one of only two healers currently available in Wuthering Waves and is very powerful. Her Outro skill boosts the damage dealt to the whole group by 15% for 30 seconds on top of her 20% buff to your part's attack power for 20 seconds. She also has a sweet get-out-of-jail-free card up her sleeve with her Grace of Life inherent skill.

Verina is a powerful healer who buffs your team and keeps you from dying, making her the clear number-one pick at the moment. Also, just look at her! She's adorable.
