Despite some server issues upon launch, Ubisoft's latest free-to-play online competitive shooter XDefiant is here to stay. If you're one of the lucky ones able to find a stable game already, then here's a guide on how to level up fast in this highly referential game.
What is the max level cap in XDefiant?
The maximum level you can reach in Ubisoft's free-to-play shooter is level 50. This isn't a far cry from the Call of Duty franchise (XDefiant has been touted as the "CoD killer"), which boasts a max level cap of 55. CoD is also renowned for its extensive prestige system, which enables players to continue leveling up past the maximum level cap of level 55.
While a prestige system is currently not in XDefiant, Ubisoft has said that the must-have progression system is currently in the pipeline. Prestige will therefore likely not arrive in Ubisoft's shooter until seasonal content kicks off. The developer hasn't yet confirmed a release date for Season 1. But according to its Year 1 Roadmap, the first year will consist of four seasons, with each one dropping a brand-new faction, three new weapons, three maps, and a 90-tier Battle Pass. Not bad!
Best ways to get XP fast in XDefiant
Like most other online free-to-play competitive shooters, the key to leveling up fast in XDefiant lies in the in-game challenge system. Completing these feats will grant you crucial XP boosts, in turn making leveling up that much faster (and more engaging in the process!).
The first challenges you should tackle in XDefiant range from basic weapon challenges such as Deal 4,000 Damage with Assault Rifles to more specific ones like Get 20 SMG Point-Blank Kills. It's worth checking the Base menu (the second tab in the Challenges menu) before hopping into a match. These challenges cover different weapons but also devices such as grenades and EMPs, as well as specific faction characters. You should pick a few to focus on and knock out first to use your time most efficiently.
Another quick and easy way to level up in XDefiant is to look at the game's daily challenges, which you can do by tabbing over to the Dailies tab in the game's main challenge menu. This screen showcases your run-of-the-mill dailies which you will almost certainly complete while simply playing the game. What's nice is that these challenges refresh every 24 hours, keeping things nice and fresh in case you're not a fan of a particular challenge.
XDefiant faction challenges overview
Beyond generic weapon challenges and your usual dailies, XDefiant presents you with more ambitious challenges related to its five different in-game factions. The Dedsec faction challenge, for example, requires you to earn a whopping 700,000 XP to unlock the beloved faction from Watch Dogs 2. So you better start knocking out those Base and Dailies challenges I mentioned above if you want to play XDefiant as a sneaky hacker.
Also worth noting is that tackling XDefiant's challenges will also help push forward the in-game battle pass. Unlocking battle pass tiers will earn you some truly snazzy cosmetics and character skins for the many characters found in-game, as well as weapon skins and, of course, the game's spendable currency system (XCoins).
