Soryotanog Shrine (Buried Light) Solution in TOTK (Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)

Everything you need to know, with pictures!

It turns out the shrines in Gerudo Desert in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have sand both inside and outside. Zelda fans who have played through Skyward Sword might have a nice feeling of nostalgia in this shrine, though. Since there are fans that can be used to blow away the sand, it's almost like using the Gust Bellows from Skyward Sword.

Soryotanog Shrine can be found on top of Gerudo Town in Tears of the Kingdom. In order to get there, players will need to pass through the sand storm, but once inside, players will be able to walk around and climb as they please. The coordinates for this shrine are -3881, -2961, 0123.

Soryotanog Shrine (Buried Light) Walkthrough in TOTK (Zelda Tears in the Kingdom)

The opening room to the Soryotanog Shrine has a couple of sand dunes and a fan. The first order of business is to clean up all the sand with the fans to find what is beneath.

It might seem intuitive to place the fan beside the sand dunes and activate it, but I actually found out Link can use Ultrahand and point the fan at the dunes while walking around.

This saved me a bit of time, just because it can be a little difficult to line up the fan so that it blows away the sand.

Beneath one of the sand dunes is a small key. Use this on the door in the middle of the room to open the second part of the shrine. Take the fan from the first room and head inside. There is a sand dune with an odd device beneath. This is actually a metallic shield that reflects light.

There is a hidden room to the left. Link might be taking arrow fire from a construct inside that room. To get inside, look to the left of the cage; there should be a small corner with a roof that Link can use Ascend on.

Get on top of that roof to access the hidden room. Link can snipe the construct from here. This room will have another fan and a couple other sand dunes. The important sand dune to clear is the one beneath the ramp because there is a beam of light that comes from underneath there.

Once this light is revealed, players can grab the other metallic shield in the room and place it on the ramp.

This part is a bit tricky. I found it best to use Ultrahand, aim for the back-left corner of the room, and then angle it slightly to the left. The shield needs to be placed so that the light enters the room that Link was just in.

When players head back to the original room, a beam of light should be shining through. Take the first metallic shield and raise it with Ultrahand to meet the beam of light. From there, rotate around so that the light is bouncing off that shield and onto the big target on top of the shrine door. That will open the final door and finish the shrine proper.
