Is the Master Sword in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

Wield the power of the Master Sword.

Link returns to save Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, facing new threats and challenges along the way. A classic tool in Link's arsenal is the Master Sword, his famous blade, which appears in most Zelda titles. This may leave you wondering if Link has the Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Does the Master Sword appear in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

The answer is yes—the iconic Master Sword returns to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, it appears to have been damaged. It is broken halfway down the blade and shows what looks signs of burning. So while the weapon appears, it may not be usable, at least not at the start.

One of the Link's tasks may be repairing the Master Sword and returning it to its full power. Many fans didn't like that the Master Sword had a charge and usage limit in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and this could be a way to fix this in Tears of the Kingdom.

It also makes sense for the players to be unable to use the Master Sword at first, as it is easily one of the best weapons in the series. As Tears of the Kingdom appears to take place after Breath of the Wild, Link would, in theory, still possess the sword, and breaking it is Nintendo's way of preventing players from using it right from the start.
