Light Dragon Location Map & Path in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

I have a Light Dragon on my radar!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features four different dragons, and, much to my delight, I got to hunt them all down. But locating them is not easy, as they are constantly on a changing flight path as soon as they spawn. Light Dragon is definitely the one that interested me the most due to both story purposes and the gains that go with reaching it. In this guide, I will help you locate the elusive creature and learn how to track it down.

You must first learn its flight path first to track down the Light Dragon in Tears of the Kingdom. As you can see in the image above, its area of flight is significantly larger than the other dragons, encompassing almost all of the surface map. Once it spawns, the Light Dragon will move around the map clockwise, taking two hours to complete this loop fully. Using this map as a reference will make your life of hunting the creature down significantly easier.

How to find the Light Dragon in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The easiest way of locating the Light Dragon in TotK is by initiating the Recovering the Hero's Sword quest while doing the main story progression, which (spoilers) rewards you with the repaired Master Sword. When you receive the objective, the Dragon's current location will appear on the map. You have two ways of reaching the Light Dragon from that point on:

  • Going to the Light Dragon directly
  • Completing the quest objectives

How to reach the Light Dragon in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Reaching the Light Dragon in Zelda: TotK is fairly simple; just follow the steps below:

  • Pick a Skyview Tower you can access that crosses with the Light Dragon's flight path.
  • Go to the Tower and wait for the Light Dragon to approach.
  • Once it is close enough, use the Zonai construct, like a modified Zonai Wing Glider, to approach it and then paraglide onto its back.

Before attempting this feat, be sure to have two full wheels of Stamina. Clearing the map fog will also go a long way in helping you, so you should complete this task first.
