Makasura Shrine is one of many shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that can be a real brain twister. It features some really long caverns with not a lot of tools for crossing them. The big key to this shrine, though, is found in the title: Link will need some Upright Devices to cross to the end.
Where is Makasura Shrine in TOTK (Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)?
Makasura Shrine can be found in Kakariko Village, one of the more important areas in Tears of the Kingdom. Kakariko Village can be found north of the Dueling Peaks area in Necluda. The shrine is located on one of the mountains overlooking the village, and its coordinates are 1770, -1050, 0166.
How can players complete the Makasura Shrine in TOTK (Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)?
The first part of this shrine is one of the easier passages in Tears of the Kingdom. There is a huge wall with an extended roof on top. Link just needs to use Ascend to get to the top of the wall. While this is really easy to complete, it sort of gives players an idea of what they should be doing throughout the shrine.
For the next part, players will find a huge chasm with an L shaped crate and a couple of new Zonai devices. When hit, these devices will stand upright, causing any attached objects to stand upright as well.

To cross the chasm, line up the L shaped crate so that it's facing forward. Then, hit the Zonai device to force the crate in an upright position. Players should aim to have the long part facing up with the small end of the crate hanging over them.
From that point, hit the Ascend button to get on top of the crate. Link should be high enough from this point to glide across the chasm.
Once he does so, he will arrive at the final part of the shrine, which features another L-shaped crate with a Zonai device, as well as large hole.
The orb that needs to be placed in the hole is on Link's left hand side. Therefore, players should move the L-shaped crate over to the bars and stand it upright so that Link can Ascend and jump over the bars.
Once inside, players will find a flat crate with a cradle at one end. The orb and a Zonai device will also be present. Simply place the orb into the cradle and attach a Zonai device to the front end of the crate.
When it stands upright, the orb will catapult into the hole.

This part of the shrine is very forgiving. When I tried it, I didn't really try to aim the catapult. This is because the hole is buried in a small crevice on the floor. I simply flung the orb over and it looped around a bit until it finally fell inside.
Placing the orb will cause the room on the other side to open, revealing yet another crate with a cradle at one end. Instead of an orb, this time Link will be flinging himself over to the end of the shrine.
To do this, players will need to build one huge crate. Here is how players should build it:
- Take the L-shaped crate from the previous part of the shrine.
- Line it up so that the Zonai device is right in front of the cliff.
- Take the other crate and attach it to the L-shaped one
Players should end up with something like the image below:
Once this is set up, Link can get in the cradle and fire at the Zonai device with an arrow. The device will stand upright, and Link will be catapulted to the end of the shrine.
