Your whole team shares the same Elixir Bar (the purple Bar in the bottom-left corner of the screen). To place a troop, the number on the Bar has to match the number of the troop. After summoning a unit, the Elixir will be subtracted from your team's Bar. While the Elixir slowly regenerates through the round, you should still be mindful to leave enough for your teammates!
