Copper is a new resource introduced in the latest update for Minecraft. But what level is copper ore found, and where can you find copper in Minecraft? Well, to start, you can find copper easily by simply digging down or walking into a cavern, as it spawns at even some of the highest underground levels.

You can find Copper Ore anywhere underground from Y -16 to Y 112. However, it is most common between layers 47 and 49. If you're only looking for Copper Ore and no other resources, we recommend setting up a strip mine with the floor at Y 47.

Copper also comes in two variants: deep slate copper ore and copper ore. The material makeup of a Minecraft world transitions from Stone to Deepslate between the levels of Y 8 and Y 0. If you want to find Deepslate Copper Ore, you'll need to mine at levels below Y 8 to find it most often.
