We’ll tell you how to get the perfect start and set yourself up for smooth progression. And, if you’ve been playing the game for a few days but feel stuck, we’ve got some tips and tricks that should get you back on track. So, let’s dive right in.

How to Increase Yen Capacity in Anime Squadron

To increase Maximum Yen Capacity, open the Perks menu by clicking on the Perks button on the left side of the Lobby screen. In the menu, you’ll see three main Perks: Maximum Yen Capacity, Yen Generation, and Base Health.

Maximum Yen increases your Yen cap (the amount of maximum Yen you can earn) during matches. At the start, this is capped at 500 Yen. However, that’s too low and will cause problems with unit placements and upgrades. Upgrade it to Level 5 (Max Yen Capacity = 2.5K) so you don’t run out of Yen anytime soon.

Yen Generation (your Yen earning rate per second) is also an important Perk to upgrade early. This allows you to earn Yen quickly. Get this up to Level 5 as well, and then you can hold off on upgrading both these perks until you reach the late game.

Read on to learn how to farm Gold so you can level up these Perks easily.

How to Farm Gold in Anime Squadron

To farm Gold in Anime Squadron, you should do the following:

  • Redeem the latest Anime Squadron Codes: This is the best way to get plenty of Gold without playing a single minute of the game. Redeem all the codes, and you should have enough Gold for a perfect start.
  • Sell the extra Units: As you summon Units, your Inventory will start to fill up with useless low-rarity units as well as high-rarity duplicates. Open your Units inventory, click on Sell Mode, and sell all the extras for Gold.
  • Claim Discovery rewards: Outside the Summon building, you’ll find the Discovery NPC. He holds the Anime Squadron Units index. You can claim Gold for summoning and discovering every unit. Higher-rarity units have a higher discovery reward.
  • Clear the Daily Challenge: In the Play section, click on the Challenge tab and clear the Daily Challenges to earn massive amounts of Gold. These challenges are only available for 24 hours, so don’t miss out on them.
  • Clear Squadron: Playing and clearing Squadron stages is also a good way to farm Gold quickly and easily. The GT City map is the shortest (and easiest) map that you can grind repeatedly to farm Gold.

Apart from these sources mentioned above, you can also buy Gold using Omega Coins from the Raid Shop. However, you must reach Level 15 to unlock Raids and start earning Omega Coins. The AFK World is another easy source to farm some Gold, Gems, and more while you’re away.

How to Farm Gems in Anime Squadron

There are multiple ways to earn Gems in Anime Squadron. Focus on the following to easily farm them:

  • Redeem the latest Anime Squadron Codes: Much like Gold, redeeming the latest Anime Squadron Codes will give you plenty of Gems that should help you get your first Legendary and Mythic unit in the game.
  • Clear Story Stages: Every Story stage guarantees Gems. Once you have a strong enough team, farm the easier stages to earn Gems quickly.
  • Complete all Beginner Missions. In the Lobby, you’ll see a Beginner Missions button under the Perks and Profile buttons. Click on it, and you’ll see different in-game tasks like crafting a gear, defeating a certain number of enemies, and more. Complete these tasks to earn Gems, Trait Shards, and more easily.
  • Complete Daily, Weekly, and Special Quests. Daily Quests guarantee at least 450 Gems for each quest completed. Weekly Quests can give as many as 2,000 Gems. Special Quests are hard but can give up to 10,000 Gems upon completion.

If you’re not actively playing the game, teleport to the AFK World to farm Gems. Also, make sure you claim the Daily Login and free Game Pass rewards, because those also include Gems.

How to Farm Trait Shards in Anime Squadron

Trait Shards are required to roll/reroll Traits on your Units in Anime Squadron. Here are the best ways to farm Trait Shards in Anime Squadron:

  • Redeem the latest Anime Squadron Codes: You can get plenty of Trait Shards for free to get started by redeeming the latest codes. These should be enough to help you get some Traits on your first Mythic/Legendary.
  • Clear the Daily Challenge & Katakara Bridge: Both these Challenges can drop Trait Shards when you clear them. Daily Challenges give a higher amount of Trait Rerolls, but are more difficult to clear. The Katakara Bridge is a permanent challenge that you can repeat multiple times.

If you have unlocked Raids, you can also purchase Trait Rerolls from the Raid Shop.

How to Farm Player XP in Anime Squadron

Player XP is required to increase your player level in Anime Squadron and get access to all the features/mechanics. Here are all the ways you can farm Player XP to level up quickly:

  • Complete all Beginner Missions: Completing Beginner Missions is one of the best ways to farm Player XP early on. You’ll also earn plenty of Gems and Trait Shards as well.
  • Farm GT City Story Act 1 (Hard): Every clear gives you +20 Player XP. Instead of wasting time on harder stages, grind GT Story Act 1 on Hard difficulty to farm Player EXP easily.
  • Play Raids & Squadron on Hard difficulty: Clearing Raids and Squadron on Hard difficulty gives +35 and +40 Player EXP, respectively. Once you have a strong team, switch to these two methods to farm Player EXP.

For beginners, I suggest a team of the fastest units (Tranks, Ramuru) and putting GT City Act 1 on Auto Replay to AFK farm Player EXP.

What is the Best Beginner Team for Anime Squadron

When you get started in Anime Squadron, your focus should be on clearing the Story (Normal and Hard difficulty). But, if you are struggling after the first few stages, try using one of the teams below:

Team 1Team 2
Karashi
Vegata/Goki
Fastwagon
Big Beard
Mamosa
Rudaus
Choi
Karashi’s movement speed allows you to reach the enemy base more quickly. Get the Rebirth Trait if possible. Works well even if you can’t get it.

Vegata/Goki will do the damage dealing. Make sure to get the Superior or Cloner Trait.

Fastwagon is on the team to help with Yen Generation. Get the Entrepreneur Trait to make him cheaper and buff his Damage.
Big Beard is the main Tank and DPS in this team. Superior, Rebirth, or Cloner Trait will make him OP.

Mamosa and Rudaus both act as great support units (restoring Big Beard’s HP and reducing his ability cooldown).

Make sure you get your Yen Cap and Yen Generation to Level 4 if you want to run this team.

Check out our Anime Squadron Tier List that ranks all the best units to figure out which units to go after once you clear the early-game content.

Early Progression Tips for Anime Squadron (mention fast travel too)

Because of the various game modes, it is easy to get confused about what to do when you start playing Anime Squadron. So, we’ve created this list of early progression tips that you can follow as your ‘what to do first’ in Anime Squadron:

  1. First and foremost, redeem the Anime Squadron Codes. This will hand you some important resources like Gold, Gems, and Trait Shards that you can use to set up your starter team (recommended in the section above).
  2. Level up Yen Capacity and Yen Generation. These two are the most important Perks and should be prioritized. No need to waste any Gold on Base Health upgrades early.
  3. Summon until you have at least 1 Mythic and 1 Legendary Unit. If you can get more, that’s even better. See our Anime Squadron Tier List to learn about the best units in the game.
  4. Clear all Story stages in both Normal and Hard difficulties, and repeat the clears 2 to 3 times to get items and materials required to craft gear and make your team stronger.
  5. After clearing the Story stages multiple times, you would have reached Level 10 and unlocked 5 Unit Slots. Now you can start playing mid-game content like Squadron, Daily Challenge, and Regular Challenge.

Pro Tip: Don't waste time walking around the Anime Squadron Lobby manually. Click on the area markers on your screen (Play, Summon, Upgrade, Raids) to teleport directly to that area.

When you reach mid-game content (Squadron & Challenges), shift your focus to crafting the high-rarity gear and evolving your Mythic units. This will prepare you for the late-game content (Raids and Katakara Bridge Infinite Challenge).

That’s it for our Anime Squadron beginner’s guide. Hopefully, this will help you get the right start and set you up for smooth progression through early, mid, and late-game content.
