The feature was causing players to experience lag and rubberbanding issues in the games, so the developers disabled it for the time being. 

In the tweet shown below, the developers explained their reasoning behind the change. They have also stated the prox sensor will remain disabled until the issues caused by it can be fixed. 

There was no time frame when it would be fixed at the time, but the prox sensor is now active and can be used by players again with the recent update.

That said, if you want to use the prox sensor, simply locate it under gear and add it to your loadout via the loadouts option under collections. 

How to use the prox sensor in Battlefield 2042?

To use the prox sensor in Battlefield 2042, you will first need to get to level 22 and equip it on your loadout. 

After this, head into a match, and you will be able to use the gadget to find out where nearby enemies are when the sensor is thrown. 

When you throw the sensor, it will display with a red dot on the minimap where enemy players are, making it useful for flanking.
