The new Party Royale? Fortnite introduces Party Worlds that focus on socializing

Party time! Excellent!

Fortnite has brought on a new mode for its players titled Party Worlds, which encourages players to focus more on social interaction than combat and competition. You can access party Worlds through the Discover tab (the game mode selection screen) from the main menu. This allows for quick access to new worlds that allow players to make friends, play mini-games, and make playing Fortnite a more casual experience.

These new Party Worlds might serve as grounds for Epic Games to phase out the current Fortnite socializing experience, Party Royale, introduced in May 2020. As it stands, Party Royale is decreasing in popularity as a social hub and only seems to be used to feature major events such as in-game concerts and short films. While there is no direct word from Epic about why they're adding Party Worlds, this new game mode comes after many changes to the game mode selection process and before its plan to transition the Save the World gamemode to its Discover tab.

Party Worlds also continue Fortnite's trend of bringing in user-made content and maps by allowing players to design these new worlds themselves and uploading them to the Fortnite map database. No information has been released yet about the process of filtering which maps are approved or rejected. Still, there are guidelines available on the official Epic Games page announcing the new feature.

With these changes, we can fully expect Fortnite to continue its rise in popularity for competition and creativity and potentially as a virtual hangout for anyone with some time to spare!
