When does Sonic: The Hedgehog 2 come out?

After the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, fans have been awaiting the sequel. Thankfully, viewers got their first look at Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at the 2021 Game Awards. The Sonic the Hedgehog sequel isn't far off, but when can players expect to see this movie hit theaters?

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 releases exclusively in theaters on Apr. 8, 2022. Most of the original actors reprise their roles in this highly anticipated sequel, including Ben Schwartz returning to voice Sonic the Hedgehog and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski.

On top of returning characters, several Sonic mainstays will make their silver screen debut in the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel, including Miles "Tails" Prower, voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey, and Knuckles the Echidna, voiced by Idris Elba.

Jim Carrey returns as well, stirring up trouble as Dr. Eggman, sporting a more traditional look in this entry in the franchise.
