Pokémon love food, so it makes sense for you to give your own a few so they love you more. This is particularly true for Pokémon like Eevee, Golbat, and Pichu who need high friendship levels to evolve. So how do you do it?
Unfortunately, you can’t give your own Pokémon food. You can only throw them to wild ones, allowing you to capture them more easily. Food that are in your satchel automatically get added to your list of throw items (which includes Pokéballs). Navigate the list with L/R, aim with R2, and let go to throw.
Most wild Pokémon have food they like and don’t like. All of them like berries, however. So if you quickly need a lure, just shake an Oran Tree. You can also buy food from the guild or craft them on your own.

If you want your Pokémon to love you, do it the old-fashioned way: explore with them in your party, level them up, win with them in battle, and throw them at objects. Besides, even food can’t raise Pokémon friendship levels in previous games.
