Bungie completely reworked Gambit with the launch of The Witch Queen. However, with that rework, the core game mode and objective stayed pretty much the same. After a few weeks of tweaking Gambit, the developers are looking to change it up a bit with the introduction of Gambit Labs. The second altered game mode to be added to the game is called Mote Thief.
What is Gambit Labs: Mote Thief?
Gambit Labs are alternate game modes that feature tweaks made to classic Gambit. This is a way for Bungie to test some of the more out-there ideas for the game mode. Mote Thief looks to significantly alter the state of the mode by changing a few things about Mote drainage. Firstly, Mote drainage from having two blockers has been disabled. To counteract that, every second the invader is invading, one Mote will drain directly from your bank to the invader's bank.

Bungie has stated in their lengthy This Week at Bungie that Gambit Labs: Mote Thieves will go live in the game this coming Tuesday, April 26. You will be able to select this mode in both the main Gambit mode and the freelance one. This mode will be around for only a week, so anyone interested in giving it a try will only have next week to do so.
So there you have it, that is what Gambit Labs: Mote Thieves is and how it varies from the original Gambit game mode. It will be interesting to see how the player base reacts to this mode, especially with the mixed feedback of the first Gambit Labs mode.
