Gruel is a common food in Conan Exiles, and it is a handy meal because it lasts for a long time when used for the Wheel of Pain fuel. You can make Gruel at any campfire, and it's pretty simple. Before you start the campfire, make sure it has wood as fuel.
What's the recipe for Gruel in Conan Exiles?
You need to go to a campfire to make Gruel. Add one Seed and then five Plant Fibers, and you'll end up with 10 bowls of Gruel. You can take this a step further and make enhanced Gruel by putting one Gruel back into the campfire and adding one Egg and one Spice. Alternatively, you can make flavored Gruel with one Gruel, one Dried Berries, and two Spice.
If you keep Gruel in your inventory for too long, it will spoil and need to be thrown away.

How to make fuel for Wheel of Pain without Gruel in Conan Exiles
Gruel isn't the only fuel you can use for the Wheel of Pain; it's just one of the longer-lasting methods. You can make Gruel at level 15, and the Wheel of Pain becomes available at level 10, so you can use other items until then. You can fill the Wheel of Pain with different kinds of food, but the thralls will not eat it if it goes bad. It is important not to overstock food items because they can go bad faster than Gruel.
Test out some items yourself, but for a good start, some items that can fuel the Wheel of Pain are:
- Eggs
- Fat Grubs
- Insects
- FeralFfish
- Cooked Shellfish
- Cooked Meat
