Should you pick Raymond or Laeticia in Star Ocean The Divine Force?

There are two things to consider when deciding between Raymond and Laeticia in Star Ocean: The Divine Force. This choice will affect your perspective on the story and your gameplay. Both characters have different backgrounds that affect how they view the world and interact with it.

Raymond understands technology and possesses a carefree attitude. Throughout the story, he must toe the line of discussing technology, as the world has not reached that point of advancement. On the other hand, Laeticia is much more familiar with magic and willing to do whatever it takes to save her kingdom. She will learn about technology in the story and gain explanations for the mystical things she sees.

Additionally, there are moments when the game separates Raymond and Laeticia, so you're choice affects which character you focus on. While you can use both characters in your party, there will be times when Raymond or Laeticia cannot be used. Your choice determines which character is a primary member of your party.

Differences between Raymond and Laeticia in Star Ocean The Divine Force

Raymond and Laeticia both have different playstyles and skills. Raymond is a bruiser, has high strength, and can deal large amounts of damage. He also possesses a knowledge of technology that affects how he plays. Laeticia focuses more on magic and has an elegant fighting style. She is faster and can perform multi-hit attacks rather than single strikes.

Ultimately you can use both characters, but when the story splits Raymond and Laeticia up, you will lose access to the character you did not select. So you should choose your protagonist based on which type of gameplay and story you want to experience.
