How to play Gartic Phone

A telephone game for the modern era.

Remember telephone, the party game you used to play when you were little? It's all grown up now, and you'll love it if you're a fan of Jackbox Games. Gartic Phone is a hilarious new game that lets you connect with and make friends online through quirky and nonsensical sentences and drawings. Here's how it works.

Playing Gartic Phone

The general idea behind Gartic Phone is pretty simple: head over to their site and choose how you want to play. You can either be anonymous or connect your Twitch or Discord account to play as an authenticated user. Once you click start, you can invite up to 13 other players to join your server before beginning (the game recommends having at least four players).

There are 12 different presets that impact how the game will run. Players will first type and submit a goofy sentence in an average game of Gartic Phone with the normal preset. You will receive another player's sentence and need to draw it out to the best of your ability.

After you've drawn your image, another player will look at it and try to describe what they see. Another drawing will be created based on their description, which will usually continue until the image and description descend into utter chaos, far away from the original prompt.
