During your adventures in the Dragon Isles, you may encounter strange mounds of dirt that stick out from the rest of the environment. At first glance, they aren't anything special, but we assure you that they are worth investigating. Here's everything we know about those dirt mounds in WoW Dragonflight.
What to do with Disturbed Dirt in WoW Dragonflight
The dirt mounds are named Disturbed Dirt, and they are only interactable once a few conditions have been cleared. Before reaching the conditions we're about to mention, these mounds of dirt will just be visible. You will not be able to highlight them, nor do anything meaningful with them. The conditions are as followed:
- Reach Rank five Renown with the Dragonscale Expedition
- Have a Expedition Shovel or Multi-tool present in your bags

Reaching Renown rank five with the Dragonscale Expedition rewards you with the ability to see Disturbed Dirt on your mini-map. This is typically how you will find these mounds, but be warned that some are difficult to locate even with them visible to you there. There are Disturbed Dirt piles located all throughout the Dragon Isles, but you'll need an Expedition Shovel in order to reap their rewards.
Expedition Shovels can be bought from the Dragonscale Expedition Renown vendor located in the Waking Shores. These shovels only have five charges, that is, five Disturbed Dirt piles they can dig up before breaking. There are many, many more piles than this in the Dragon Isles, so we recommend buying several shovels before you go back to your adventure. You will often come across Disturbed Dirt, so its good to have them on you at all times.
Disturbed Dirt Rewards
Digging up a Disturbed Dirt pile can yield all sorts of rewards. All piles will reward you with items that can be sold for gold and dragon artifacts that can be turned in to the Dragonscale Expedition Renown vendor for additional reputation. However, rewards can yield much more valuable items such as profession skill points and even Primal Chaos, if you're lucky. As such, it is always a good idea to stop and dig up a Disturbed Dirt pile if you see one. They are always worth your time.
