Crafting is finally coming to Warhammer 40k Darktide, but only changes perks

No, you still won't be crafting that twin-linked Thunder Hammer!

Warhammer 40k Darktide was officially released on November 30, and the game developer Fat Shark has already announced the first major update. It will be released as soon as Wednesday, December 14.

The central topic of talk among the game's fans centers around the introduction of the crafting system, specifically the addition of the "Refine Item" functionality. It will allow players to replace one Perk slot on a Weapon or Curio, but any additional Perk slots will become blocked. Unfortunately, this is the extent of the crafting system functionality that players will be getting, at least for now. The team has said that this is the next step toward building out the crafting system, leaving room for more updates in the future.

One of the main points in the patch update is the addition of two new weapons to the game. This is welcome news, as the devs promised 70 new weapons and admittedly fell short on release. The new weapons are:

  • Indignatus Mk IVe Crusher
  • Achlys Mk I Power Maul

The team announced they are making changes to how Aquilas are packed. They want to add 2400 and 100 Pack options, which is, in our opinion, the right move to make. This restructuring will allow players to buy what they want without fuss.

The developers revealed that they're taking a serious look at team progression. One of the center points of feedback has been about shared progression across the Operatives, and the team said they are reviewing the idea and thinking about how to approach this and implement it.

The Penances will also get tweaked, having been a particularly tricky part of the game. A lot of the game feedback has been centered around the disconnect between how the Penances should work and how players are experiencing them. According to the developers, they are working to smooth out any bugs and make the Penances a more enjoyable experience.

From next week, players with two or more members in their premade team will be able to play a private game, making certain Penances a lot easier to achieve. The devs also stated they are working on a solo-play mode, but are not happy with its current state.

Due to many players' requests, a new emote system usable while the players are aboard the Mourningstar is in development. It will not go live next week, but it is hinted by the game team that it will be coming soon.
