Where to find the Katana in The Forest – Weapon Location Guide

It's a great weapon.

The Forest features several weapons, and tools players must find in hidden and hard-to-get locations. One such weapon is the famed Katana, which can destroy Cannibals in melee combat. However, it's unclear to anyone new to The Forest where to find the Katana.

Where to find the Katana sword in The Forest

To find the Katana in The Forest, you must locate Cave one, also known as the Dead Cave. Finding the Dead Cave or Cave One is a bit of a challenge as you can not see where you are going when you first start. In short, players don't get access to a map until they find it later in Cave 2, also called the Hanging Cave. We recommend first finding and getting the map as it can help you find your way throughout The Forest's open world and locate the Katana's location. You can find the Hanging Cave by finding the Main Village towards the southeast. Inside the Main village, you can find an entrance to the Hanging Cave. You can find the map and a Compass item in the Hanging Cave's initial cave chamber. If you do not want to find the map first, you can still find the Katana location in The Forest by using your surroundings.

In short, we recommend going to a clear opening and looking around for a large mountain. The Mountain always sits toward the north of the peninsula The Forest takes place on. Also near the Mountain is a large river that heads down. Head toward the Mountain until you see the river and can see the Mountain, similar to our screenshot above. Follow the river by turning around when you see the Mountain and keep following the river until you reach another point marked below. At this point, head up the hill, and you will find the entrance on your right. If you already have the map, you can find the location of the Dead Cave, also shown below.

Another way to find the Dead Cave is to get a lucky spawn that places the crash plane up a hill from it. You can try and get this lucky spawn by recreating the game until you find a location that looks like the one below.

How to get the Katana in The Forest Dead Cave

Once inside the Dead Cave, you will want to move and climb another rope that leads up. You can find the rope straight from the one you use to get into the Dead Cave. Follow this rope until you reach the point shown below.

When you reach this point in the Dead cave, you want to take the path to the left and follow the wooden boards. Keep following the trail all the way around, and you will reach the location of the Katana. The Katana location rests inside a dead body shown below, walk up and press E to grab the Katana.
