When does One Piece Odyssey take place? Timeline, explained

One Piece Odyssey features an epic tale with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. Crash landed on a mysterious island; the crew must repair the ship and discover the secrets of this island. However, fans of the series may be wondering where exactly One Piece Odyssey takes place in the One Piece timeline.

Where on the timeline does One Piece Odyssey take place?

While One Piece Odyssey is not canon to the series, it does occur within the timeline. The creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, had direct involvement with the series, and we can guess where it falls in relation to the rest of One Piece. Based on the game's development and in-game events, we'd place it somewhere between the Dressrosa and Zou Arcs.

Throughout the game, however, you will revisit other arcs in One Piece through memories, and characters will make references to prior events. This means the game contains spoilers, so you may learn about the series from the game. We recommend being up to episode 740 of the anime and chapter 800 of the manga.

These aren't necessarily exact points where you can avoid spoilers, but this should put you in a prime position to do so. If you are fine with spoilers, then playing One Piece Odyssey ahead of reaching these points is the way to go.
