The Most Wanted event introduces the Heat mechanic into Fortnite, which is important to pay attention to. Raising Heat means running faster, regenerating more health, and getting more Gold Bars from enemies, so it's a big change to the game.
What does Heat level do in Fortnite?
The Heat level works a lot like the Wanted level in the Grand Theft Auto series because it goes up as the player does more things. Obviously, GTA and Fortnite are very different, and getting eliminations and opening up vaults is the way to raise it in Fortnite.
Having a high Wanted level in GTA isn't great, but it definitely benefits players in Fortnite. Players will get more Gold Bars from an eliminated opponent at just level one, but the benefits quickly stack up. Players can track their Heat level by the flame icons that appear on their screen in a match. Here's how Epic Games lays it all out.
- Level One: Eliminated opponents drop more Bars.
- Level Two: Movement speed increases by 15 percent, and you’ll regenerate up to 100 Health out of combat.
- Level Three: Movement speed increases by 20 percent, and you’ll regenerate up to 100 Health and 50 Shield out of combat.
- Level Four: Movement speed increases by 25 percent, and you’ll regenerate up to 100 Health and 100 Shield out of combat.
When does Most Wanted end in Fortnite?
The Heat level mechanic isn't here to stay in Fortnite, but it'll disappear at the end of February when the Most Wanted event ends. Before it leaves, players will want to make sure they complete the Most Wanted challenges to unlock the free cosmetics.
These cosmetics include a pickaxe, outfit, and back bling, along with some other goodies players won't want to miss out on. Epic hasn't said whether these items would eventually hit the Item Shop, so players should prioritize getting them for free while they can.
