Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity How to Cook

To cook in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, you must be on the preparation screen before you are about to start a mission or a challenge. From this menu, you can choose from the recipes you have unlocked - if you have the required ingredients to cook it - to give a stat boost for the entire mission's duration.

Though Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity may be a prequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, sadly, the gameplay is more or less completely different. Don't go into Age of Calamity thinking it's a carbon copy of BotW as you'll be extremely confused. In Breath of the Wild, you could find a cooking pot and then mix different ingredients together to make a vast assortment of foods with a wide range of unique effects.

In Age of Calamity, cooking works a lot differently; you cook before a mission to gain a stat boost. As you start the game, the recipes you own will only have a small effect on the stats, but as you progress through the game, you'll be able to unlock more elaborate recipes with more beneficial effects.

To acquire the ingredients for the recipes, you can get these as you play through the game's various levels by cutting grass or opening chests. They'll even be awarded to you as a reward for finishing a mission; even if you lose, you'll get some. Though, do remember, you need ingredients to be able to make recipes; without them, you cannot gain any buffs.

On the main map of Age of Calamity, where you choose your missions, you can find merchants that will sell you ingredients, so if you have run out of them, you can spend some of your money to acquire some without any effort!

Here are a few starting recipes and the effects that have:

  • Steamed Meat
    • Ingredients
      • Hyrule Herb x4
      • Raw Meat x4
    • Effect
      • Damage +5%

If you are wondering how to heal in Age of Calamity, then we've got you covered! And don't worry, BotW fans parrying is still in the game, so use it to reflect those beams fired from the Guardians right back at them!
