Playing Bethesda games is always overwhelming as they tend to push the ARPG boundaries to the max, and Starfield is no exception. You can run, jump, fly ships, craft, and who knows what else as soon as you arrive in the game, and all the menus and pop-ups can be overwhelming. Sometimes, when you open your inventory in Starfield, you’ll see an exclamation point next to some items. So, what does it mean?
Starfield - What do exclamation marks mean in your inventory?
The first thing to say is, don’t panic! It’s not a bad thing, and you’re not going to get in trouble with the security services (not for the exclamation point, anyway). All it means is that this item has appeared in your inventory since the last time you looked. To look at a full list of what you’ve picked up since the last time you opened your inventory, select the New Items tab (pictured above).
It’s important to note that whether you look at these items, such as resources or the New items list, the next time you open your inventory, they will all be removed from the New Items list and have their exclamation mark removed if you log out of the inventory. This can be annoying, as it's a great way to assess and note all the new stuff you picked up on your last outing. So think before you close your inventory after grabbing a great loot haul.
