Watch the direction of the handle carefully.

Scenes from Life in Meropide: Safe Operation automatically unlocks after waking up and speaking to Caterpillar and the guards in Game of the Rich. Upon initiating it, head to the northern Teleport Waypoint in the Fortress of Meropide, circled in the image above. Once you're there, look north to find an elevator going downward. Ride the elevator to reach the Abandoned Production Zone.

Once you get there, approach the glowing spot to trigger dialogue with Caterpillar. You'll then be prompted to solve the first puzzle.

The screen will change to show a rotating wheel. Simply wait for the wheel to rotate six times or until the long hand is pointing to the bottom right, as pictured in the image above. As soon as it gets to this position, select Stop to stop the wheel from moving. Doing so will open the gate leading to Supply Warehouse 1.

Before proceeding, interact with the wheel at the center of the room and select Remove Gear Drivetrain. This item is necessary to activate the wheel later on. Once done, enter the gate that just opened (you can follow the navigator eastward if the directions are confusing).

After climbing the ladder and entering the new room, you'll find a Valve at the center of the room. Interact with it to Install Gear Drivetrain.

Next, interact with the nearby mechanism to Run it. Doing so will force the wheel to start rotating. Pay attention to the direction the long hand is facing.

Wait for the wheel to rotate four times or until the long hand is facing the ladder leading toward the entrance east of the mini-map, as pictured above. As soon as the handle is facing this direction, interact with the mechanism to Stop it, locking the wheel's position in place. The gate above the ladder will open, creating an entrance to Supply Warehouse 1.

From there, simply enter the gate and approach the glowing spot to trigger dialogue with the NPCs. Don't forget to claim your Common Chest reward after.
