Nightmare Dungeons are one of the main endgame activities in Diablo 4, and they are getting a big overhaul when Season 2 rolls around. Here's a look at the Nightmare Dungeon changes announced during the October 4 Diablo 4 livestream.
Nightmare Dungeons get big change in Diablo 4
A major change to Nightmare Dungeons is the fact they'll now have higher mob densities, so there will no longer be a lot of downtime when traveling through the dungeon. A lot of people play Diablo to kill monsters, and it sounds like Blizzard is making the game easier to do that.
Another change is teleporting to the dungeon will not put you directly inside instead of at the entrance. This change cuts out an extra loading screen, so it allows you to get into the action a lot quicker. Dungeon NPCs are no longer able to be one-shot by enemies, either. Traps are going to be clearer to see, and the crowd control they put out will be reduced on players. On top of all that, the Paragon Glyph Experience is being increased.

Perhaps the biggest change of all is objectives have been taken out of many Nightmare Dungeons completely. The only thing you'll have to do is go inside, kill the boss, and leave. The layouts are being tweaked, which will cut down on backtracking, so it should result in a smoother experience.
How will this affect Diablo 4 Season 2?
The changes here all seem like a step in the right direction. With less downtime and more killing, players will find themselves with more to do. It doesn't do much for anybody who doesn't like the game in the first place, but this does tighten up the core experience.
Diablo 4 Season 2 launches on October 17, 2023. On top of the Nightmare Dungeon changes, we'll see additional endgame activities, new endgame bosses, and another Battle Pass.
