Although most potions and elixirs in BG3 come with proper labeling detailing their effects, hag-made potions are slightly more deceiving. To spare you the bitter pill, here is a guide explaining where to find Broken Promises and what to expect from its effects.
Broken Promises effect and location in Baldur's Gate 3
If you've encountered Auntie Ethel during Act 1, you must know there's more to her than meets the eye. And speaking of eyes, do not let her take yours — a buff in Intimidation for the cost of a debuff in Perception is not worth it.
The potion Broken Promises is in her hag's lair. You will have to confront her, fight her in her house, follow her down to her lair, and defeat her again.
Bonus Tip: When she is about to die, you can intimidate her to gain Hag's Hair, an item that will permanently buff one of your Abilities.
When she is gone, either dead or because you let her escape, you can enter the room where she kept all of her potions; among those, you can find Broken Promises (X:-420, Y:601). Also, don't forget to loot the Ever Seeing Eye and the Staff of Crones.
No label or text explains its effects, but you will know once one of your characters drinks it. Their Strength will be increased by 2 until the next long rest, but upon resting, it will be indefinitely reduced by 1.

How to cure Broken Promises in Baldur's Gate 3
Intuition told me I could drink the potion, live happily for a day, and fix the debuff with a simple Remove Curse spell afterwards. However, I tried all the healing magic available, and none worked.
The only way to remove permanent debuffs (and permanent buffs too) is when your character dies and is brought back to life. It only costs 100 gold to recruit a hireling, and they come with a revivify scroll, so for a +2 in Strength until a long rest, it might be justifiable to drink the potion and kill the character the next day.
