Easily one of the most intriguing Pokémon to come in The Indigo Disk DLC Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is Archaludon, the evolution of Duraludon. Getting its best nature is important to make the most out of its huge attack power, so keep reading.
What are the best natures for Duraludon and Archaludon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?
With the 125 base Special Attack stat, Archaludon will likely be running similar sets to what Duraludon usually runs. The big change with Archaludon is that 130 base Defense, which makes running some defensive set very tempting. Here are the best natures for Duraludon and Archaludon:
- Timid (+Speed, -Atk)
- Modest (+Sp Atk, -Atk)
- Bold (+Def, -Atk)
Archaludon will likely be used as a Special Attacker that takes advantage of Electro Shot, which boosts its Special Attack and then fires (like an Electric-type Meteor Beam). This makes Timid a decent option since Archaludon can out-speed threats like Gholdengo and Mamoswine.
Archaludon can also make good use of Modest. While it will lose out on some speed matchups, I find that Modest Archaludon can punish Toxapex, Amoongus, and Corviknight harder. The defensive Pokémon can be tough to deal with, so it's never a bad idea to have a dedicated wall breaker.
Neither Duraludon nor Archaludon have the moveset for a defensive Pokémon, but at 90 HP and 130 Defense, it's hard not to think of a defensive set for it. This is why Bold Duraludon and Archaludon are worth holding onto. It does get the famed Iron Defense and Body Press combo, which it can combine with Stealth Rocks and a utility move.

How to choose the best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
In order to choose the best nature, trainers really need to think of how the Pokémon will be utilized. This makes speed tiers particularly important because you have to think of specific matchups. A team that is weak to Gholdengo, for example, will need Timid Archaludon because it can't afford to lose that speed matchup.
Best moveset for Archaludon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon
- Body Press
- Dark Pulse
Although Archaludon is more of an offensive Pokémon, it would be a shame not to take advantage of that huge Defense stat and the Stamina ability. After a couple of Stamina boosts, Body Press should be doing tons of damage. It's also a good answer to Steel-types like Heatran, who usually switch to Duraludon.
The pair of Flash Cannon and Draco Meteor serve as great STAB attacks. Archaludon is one of few Dragons that can actually beat Fairy-types due to Flash Cannon. This set gets walled pretty heavily by Gholdengo, though, so Dark Pulse makes a great fourth move.
