Lost Lands 4: The Wanderer Full Walkthrough, Part 3

Part 3 of my Lost Lands 4 walkthrough picks up just after we’ve completed the poison dart recipe and used the blow rod to take out the guard in the Earl’s throne room and follows the story until you restore the Water of Life near the Pangonian’s home.

If you need help with the puzzles in an earlier part of the game or nearer the end, instead click through to my Lost Lands 4 Walkthrough hub page, which has links to each part of the guard and what is covered in each. All the puzzles are covered, as well as the locations of all collectible items.

The way to the island

Examine the guard (a1) and take his Key, then use it to open the box (a2) and take a Manuscript plus your Rope, Hammer, Sharp Knife, and Shackles. Select the glowing table (a3) to begin a missing objects puzzle. Once complete, you will receive the Flower Figurine. Use this in the base of the box (a2) and, in the false bottom of the box, you’ll find the Elephant Figurine

Move to the pantheon at the Necropolis and add the shackles to the tower (b1), knocking them in with the hammer to make a ladder. You can now go up them to the lighthouse.

After picking up the Morphing Object (c1) and Collectible (c2), also grab the Tile (c3), Map Piece (c4), Manuscript (c5), and Portal Part (c6).

Add the tile to the mechanism on the floor (d1) in the castle hall to start a tile-alignment puzzle. To complete it, do the following:

  1. Drag green to the other end of its line.
  2. Move purple to 8-o-clock, between the two dots on the ring just inside it.
  3. Take the yellow to the same 8-o-clock position you took purple.
  4. Move turquise to 6-o-clock.
  5. Put purple at 12-o-clock.
  6. Yellow to 6-o-clock.
  7. Purple to 6-o-clock.
  8. Green to 6-o-clock.

Once complete, take the final Portal Part. Return to the portal (e1) and add the remaining portal parts, opening the portal. You can now select the portal to move to Pangonian Island.

Pangonian Island

When you arrive, the Collectible (f1) is by the puzzle on the left, there’s a Manuscript (f2) just below it, and the Morphing Object (f3) is on the path. Select the dead tree (f4) for a close-up and use the hammer to get the Hook

Select the hook in your inventory and add the rope to get a Rope with a Hook. Now select the branch sticking from the cliffside (f5) and use it to get the Medallion. Select the medallion in your inventory and keep clicking it until you get the Turtle Figurine. Click the bridge (f6) to move on.

Now you’ve arrived at the Energy Reservoir. Take another Manuscript from the steps (g1), the Collectible (g2) from the rock, and the Morphing Object (g3) from the cliff face. Click the bridge (g4) so you note the code painted underneath it in your diary, then return to the entrance to the Earl’s castle.

Select the horse (h1) for a close-up and use the code (inset above) to open the bag and take the Apple. You just need to rotate the pointer to each of the three symbols in the correct order (you’ll hear a click each time). Click the apple in your inventory repeatedly until you get the Seeds and Apple Core

To catch a rat

Return to the road to the castle next and put the seeds in the hand of the tree statue (i1) in the close-up, then collect the Snake Figurine from its roots. Move to the bridge outside the Necropolis next, select the island on the left (i2), and add the two animal figurines (turtle and snake) to the pillar to begin a chip-arrangement puzzle.

You need to drag the rows and columns, being aware that everything in it will move when you drag one from either end. If you’re stuck, do the following from the starting position, pictured below. The number shows the order to do it, and its position on the image shows the direction to drag it in (towards the number and only one space each time). Once complete, take the Stone Plate.

Go back to the ship, select the net (i3), use the stone plate to open the corresponding box, and take the Jar of Sand. Take the lid off in your inventory to get an Empty Jar and a Stone Crown

Move to the cellar and get a close-up of the rat (i4). Put the jar down, add the apple core to it, then pick up the Rat in a Jar and the Stone Sickle

You can now move back to Pangonian Island, select the stone puzzle (f7), and add the rat in a jar to begin a sliding puzzle, which will get you the Stone Book. If you find these difficult, use the image above and follow this order (using the pad on the right of the screen):

  • 4, 3, 4, 2, 1, 4, 1, 2, 3

Back in the castle hall, select the shield on the wall (d2), add the three stone items (crown, sickle, and book), and take the Skull.

Helping the Pangonian

Go to the crossroads outside the castle and add the skull to the ship mast signpost (j1). This allows you to climb to the crow’s nest and take the Gaff and a Manuscript. Go back to the energy reservoir, use the gaff on the bridge (g4), and head across.

The Collectible is by the grave (k1) and the Morphing Object is on the path (k2). Take the Manuscript from the boat (k3), then move on to the Pangonian’s house (k4).

Take the Morphing Object from the treestump (l1), the Collectible, and the Rake from against the wall (l2), then knock on the door to talk to the Pangonian. After the cut scene, take the Iron Cube from the path (l3).

Return to the ship, use the cube on the net close-up (i3), and get the Stone Sword. Head to the house again, use the sword on the stone sharpener (l4) to get the Sword and then use the sword to cut the thistles (k5). Use the rake to clear the thistles to get the Piece and a Hose

Head to the lighthouse next and insert the piece into the floor (c7). This opens a passage in the ground that is a hidden objects puzzle. Once complete, you’ll receive the Helmet. Go to the path to the Pagonian’s house and place the helmet on the grave (k1).

Return to the Pagonian’s house and attach the hose to the water silo (l5), which also gets you the Faucet Nut. Water will start to flow into the holes in the rodent-infested field (l6). Select the field to start a mini-game in which you need to catch 10 rodents. This is a timing dexterity game, but there’s no time limit, so you can just hover over one hole and catch them there if you find that easier. Once done, the front door to the house will open

The sorceress’s sarcophagus

Go inside and click Sheeleesa for a cutscene. Afterward, grab the Morphing Object by the candles (m1) and collectible on the shelf (m2) before removing the cover from the trunk (m3). Also, take the blue Crystal from the top of the shelf (m4) and the Manuscript from the chest of drawers (m5).

Return to the cellar, use the faucet nut on the barrel (i5), use it, and collect the Mug of Rum. Now head to the Necropolis and add the crystal to the fountain (n1), opening a new passageway on the right (n2). Head inside.

Pick the Wooden Cube (o1), Collectible (o2), and Morphing Object (o3) off the floor, then click the cell door (o4) to start an object-matching puzzle. You need to match images that are opposites in some way. If you need the solution, check the image below.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Once complete, a new challenge will appear on the other side of the bars (that will now have dropped down). Select it to start a tile-arranging puzzle. You need to move the tiles from the right into their respective positions in the central and left columns. See below for the solution. That’s all you can do here for now.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Return to the net at the ship (i3) one final time, and open the last box with the wooden cube to get the Figurine. You now need to go into town, click the landing at the top of the stairs above the cellar entrance (p1, below), and add the figurine to start a jigsaw puzzle (you can’t fail). Once completed, you’ll get the Tablets With Numbers.

You can now return to the secret room and add the tiles to the door (o4), triggering another puzzle. The riddle on the door reads, How many legs does a man use in the morning, afternoon, and evening? The answer is 423 (it refers to the stages of life, so it is 4 as a baby crawling, 2 as an adult, then 3 with a cane in old age). The door will now be open, so head in.

Looking for clues

Inside the witch’s crypt, grab the Collectible from the top of the steps (q1) and the Morphing Object (q2) from the top of the arch. Select the nook (q3) for a close-up and take a Key and a Manuscript. Note that a page is missing from the book here.

Return to the Pagonian’s house and use the key to open the chest of drawers (m5) to get the Mountain Gear and missing Page. Go to the energy reservoir and use the mountain gear on the cliff face (g5), using your hammer to strengthen the rope. Go up to the next area.

At the dam, you’ll find the Collectible (r1) amongst the bones and the Morphing Object (r2) on the rock on the left by the flowers. Also, pick up the Watering Can (r3), take a Manuscript from the bones close-up (r1), then use the hammer head to break open the skull here to get the Mammoth Brain and Water Symbol.

Go to the crypt and add the page to the book (q3) to find out how to summon the witch’s ghost, then head back to the pantheon. Get a close-up of the magic shield (b2) and use the water symbol to remove it.

Once down, add the Hammer Head, Sword, and Saw to the statue to get a Patterned Tile, and also look at a drawing to see where you need to go next. While you’re here, you can add the mammoth brain and mug of rum to the stone tablet (b3) to get them out of your inventory.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Head to the path to the Pagonian’s house next, select the altar and add the patterned tile to start a pattern-restoration puzzle. Move the pieces around to complete the pattern, which will look like the image above once complete (the pieces go dark once they’re in the right place, so you can’t go wrong). This will start the water flowing here, so use your watering can on the water to get the Water of Life in a Pot
