Lost Lands 8 Walkthrough, Part 4 - Sand Captivity

This guide begins just after you’ve put out the fire in the chieftain’s hut in the centaur village and continues to the end of the main game. If you need answers for earlier or later parts of the game, let me direct you to the Lost Lands 8 Walkthrough hub here at Pro Game Guides. You’ll find links there to solutions for all the puzzles in the game, including the bonus chapter!

The centaur village

Grab the Collectible (a1) and Morphing Object (a2) from the forge, then click the table (a3) and take the Fang. Add the rune to the lizard sculpture on the wall (a4), which opens up to reveal a pattern. Click the pattern to begin a chip-moving puzzle.

Once you’ve moved the gold chip from the left side to the right (see the solution above), take the Amulet Center

Head into the chieftain’s hut to find the chieftain needs a flower to revive him. While you’re here, take the Morphing Object (b1) and the Collectible (b2). Head to the swamp, collect the Ammonia Flower (c1), and then use it on the chief (b3) to revive him.

After the cutscene, add the hook to the bridge and (b4) click it once more to attach the rope. Click the winch (b5) to raise the bridge, then select the loft (b6) to start a hidden objects game. Once you’ve collected all of the horseshoes (there are three on the pot), use the Horseshoe to open the chest (b7) and take the Book of Rituals and the Mold. The chieftain will give you a Key.

Making the arrow

Head out to the courtyard, add the fang to the wolf’s head (d1), and complete the lines puzzle. Once complete (see the solution below), take the Amulet Part

Now move to the village and collect some Flash Cones (e1) before returning to the forge.

Use the key to open the box (a5) to get a Shovel With Coal and the Scheme for a cannon. Add the coal to the furnace (a6), then use the bellows (a7) to heat it. Take the Crucible from the table (a3) and place the mold there. Place the crucible in the furnace (a6).

Head right back to the river in the plains and take the Pickaxe from the troll under the bridge. Go to the ritual hall at the Academy of Magicians next and use the pickaxe on the metal on the right to collect some Indigo Metal. You can now return to the forge.

Put the metal in the crucible on the furnace (a6), then use the tongs in the close-up to get the Molten Metal. Use the molten metal on the mold on the table (a3) and use the water that’s already on the table on the arrow tip. Take the Tip

Now, move back to the hunter camp, select the tent at the back (f1), and add the scheme to the close-up. Assemble the cannon by following the instructions, then take the Grappling Canon. Return to the Ziruk courtyard, select the mountain view (d2), and use the grappling cannon in the close-up to give yourself access to the cave.

Take the Claw in the cave close-up, then use the ax on the tree to get a Sequoia Branch. Use the flash cones on the cave entrance to start a movement puzzle. You can’t fail here, as you get unlimited placement of the cones (just get them into corners). Once you’ve succeeded three times, you’ll get Lizard Feathers.

You’ll be moved back to the courtyard. Select the workbench (d3), add the branch, then come out of the close-up and turn the wheel. When the belt breaks, go back to the manticore’s cave, click the central treasure pile (g1), and take the Belt

Return to the courtyard, fix the mechanism (under the bench at d3), click the handle again to start the machine, and take the Arrow Shaft afterward. Select the shaft in your inventory, and then add the tip and the feathers to complete the Ritual Arrow.

Following the book or rituals

Next, head into the centaur village and use the claw on the bear head (e2) to unveil a beetle moving puzzle. You need to complete this twice, and I’ve put the solutions below. Once complete, take the Amulet Part and note the blue head.

  • 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1, 3
  • 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 3

You can now put the three pieces of the amulet together in your inventory (you have to add them in the correct order) and receive the Amulet

Return to the courtyard, select the stone wall (d4), and use the amulet to reveal an image behind it. Remember you’ve seen a green sword, a red headdress, and a blue head, plus the banner on the wall outside the village showing four blue, three green, and two red circles. Therefore, click the head (x) 4 times, the sword (y) 3 times, and the headdress (z) twice to receive the Shield of Valor.

Go to the centaur village next, select the fire pit (e3), and add the shield, followed by the tobacco. Now add the arrow and you’ll get the Family Arrow back. Give the arrow to the chieftain (b3), and enjoy the cut scene.

Grab the Morphing Object (h1) and the Collectible (h2), then get a close-up of the temple base (h3) and take the Key. Use the key to open the door (h4) and get a close-up of it to start a missing objects mini-game. Once complete, you’ll receive the Horse Tail (as well as a Manuscript). Add the tail to the mural (h3), then move on to the cave (h5).

The Collectible is on the wall (i1) and the Morphing Object is at the base of the cactus (i2). Use the ax on the branches (i3) to get the Bundle, then use the dagger on the bundle in your inventory to get the Ritual Knife and Breastplate. Click the sand (i4) to find the Bow, then click it again to reveal a puzzle. Also, take a second Ritual Knife from the skull (i6).

Select the teepee (i5) next to find your final Manuscript, the Stronghold of the Five Worlds, and the Headdress. Also, make a note of the images on the map underneath it. You can now return to the sand city square and add the remaining pieces to the mural (h3), which reveals a new puzzle (h6). Find the solutions below.

Once complete, a new puzzle pillar appears (h7). Move the tiles to create the pattern below.

The steps will now appear, giving you access to the pyramid.

Select the pendulum (j1) and use the ax on the planks to get some light into the room, allowing you to find the Collectible (j2) and Morphing Object (j3). Take the third Ritual Knife from the plinth (j4), and then keep clicking the rubble (j5) until you uncover the Brush. Use the dagger to cut the net (j6) and take the Horse’s Head, then go back out to the square.

Select the altar (h8), add the ritual knives, and take the Flute. Go back into the temple, select the back wall (j7), add the flute, and then click the flute reeds in the correct order to open the panel. From left to right, the sequence is 5,7,2,3,6,4,1. Take the Seal and the Tarsas. Now add the seal to the book on the pedestal (j4), and read what’s inside.

After the cut scene, click the floor where the sand centaur was standing (j8) and note the pattern. Return to the cave entrance, select the grid you uncovered on the floor (i4), and press the matching panels to disperse the whirlwind. You can now enter the treasury.

Grab the Collectible (k1) and the Morphing Object (k2). Use the brush on the plaque (k3) and then read it, noting the clues (horse west, dolphin east, owl south, wolf north). Select the nearest obelisk (k4), add the horse, and then rotate it so that the owl faces inwards. Set the other three pillars as per the clues above.

This opens a secret area with an altar on the right (k5), so select it and take the Orb Of Memories. Return to the library in the Academy of Mages, add the orb to the skull on the table (l1), then click it once more to watch the cutscene.

Head into the bookshelves (l2), check the logo for the Department of Supernatural Beings, and click the scroll there to find the shelf you need, shelf 10. Click shelf 10 to get the Clue and then return to the cave at Karemos.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Select the skeleton (i6) and add the clue in the close-up to start a mini-game, following the directions on the clue (see above) to complete it and claim a Key. Return to the treasury, use the key to open the doors (k6), and go through.

The sand timer puzzle solutions

Take the final Morphing Object (m1) and Collectible (m2), and then get the Great Metronome from the second pedestal (m3). Go back outside and add the three figures to the map (k7). Arrange the figures as they were on the map (see below). When the map rises, click it for a close-up and take the Skull

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Return to the tomb and use the skull on the second pedestal (m3) to start a light puzzle. See the solution below.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Once complete, a second puzzle will begin on the pedestal to its right, and so on. You need to do these quickly, as you’re on a timer. For the second puzzle, select the skulls in the following order.

For the fourth puzzle, see the completed image above for where to get the snakes. Once all four colored streams have been broken, the body will fall to the ground. Examine the body, and Kiana will give you the Amulet.

Use the amulet on the shackles holding the body in stasis, and the body will disappear. After a cutscene with Maaron, you’ll have completed Lost Lands 8 Sand Captivity. Congratulations!
