When was Tix Discontinued from Roblox? Roblox Tix Removal Explained

Why were Tix were removed from Roblox?

Tickets were a form of currency earned by Roblox users for logging into their accounts daily and having players visit their Experiences. Unlike Robux, Tickets could be earned for free without spending real money or purchasing a membership. Players could also exchange Tickets for Robux and vice versa, though Tickets had a much lower value.

In 2016, Tickets were permanently discontinued on Roblox following a now-deleted blog post. Several reasons were cited, including confusion for new users and a desire to streamline Roblox's economy. The biggest reason, however, was the possibility for Roblox users to earn large amounts of Tickets simply by creating alt accounts. At the time, it was common practice for users to "sell" T-shirts and other clothing items for Tickets, then transfer currency from alt accounts by using them to buy the items.

Following the announcement, Roblox players were given 30 days to spend their Tickets on commemorative items, or convert the Tickets into Robux. This event, dubbed "Tixapalooza," offered rare Tix-themed cosmetics such as the Ticket Banded Top Hat and Dominus Pittacium in exchange for Tickets. At the end of this grace period, Tickets were unable to be seen, used, or earned on the platform. Robux became the sole currency available on Roblox, and could no longer be exchanged for Tickets.
