The Ride the Lightning Guitar is a Mythic-rarity item in Fortnite, introduced as part of the Metallica collaboration during the Festival Season 4. It can be found as floor loot and inside chest containers, but its rarity makes it less common compared to other items in the game.

Thankfully, Epic Games has also specified eight locations on the map where you're most likely to find the Ride the Lightning Guitar. These are marked on the map screenshot above and in list form for your convenience below:

  • Nitrodrome POI
  • Behind the hotel at Grand Glacier
  • Right in the middle of Reckless Railways
  • Entrance of Brutal Beachhead
  • At Lavish Lair POI
  • Scrying Pool at Mount Olympus
  • North of Redline Rig
  • Music Stage at Restored Reels

How to use Ride the Lightning in Fortnite

Ride the Lightning is not your typical weapon. Although it can be activated with a simple left click, it doesn't fire bullets.

Instead, this guitar has a special ability that lets players rapidly fly through the air, damaging everything in their way. The weapon has three charges for aerial flight, with a fourth charge allowing ground dodging, similar to last season's Wings.

As a result, it can be utilized as both a powerful destructive tool and a fantastic mobility aid. I strongly recommend using this weapon to escape the heat of battle, just as we do with Nitro Fists.

But that's not all! Ride the Lightning isn’t the only way to go sky-high as the floating Metallica Loot Island will drop in from a rift in the sky during the match. As mentioned earlier, the POI stage is inspired by the M72 World Tour where you can rock out to the holographic James, Lars, Kirk, and Robert while you capture the location. Doing so will reward you with a bunch of rare loot to help you reach the final few in the match.
