Updated: August 20, 2026
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override is finally here, and this time Epic is letting you break the rules. You can hack your loot, enter Cheat Codes, activate Match Overrides, collect a new generation of Sprites, and use some seriously ridiculous gaming-inspired weapons.
On top of that, Sonic the Hedgehog is headlining the new Battle Pass, while Mega Man, KINGDOM HEARTS, Pac-Man, Persona 5 Royal, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and more are joining Fortnite throughout the season.
There is a lot to unpack in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, especially if you haven't played since Season 3. The Island has new locations, the loot pool has been refreshed, Sprites have new abilities, and Match Overrides can literally change the rules of your match.
I've put together everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 below, including the new weapons, Match Overrides, Sprites, Loot Hacks, Gizmos, Ranked changes, and more.
When Did Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Start?
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override launched on August 20, 2026. The new season is available in both Battle Royale and Ranked Battle Royale, with Ranked ranks resetting when the season begins.
This is also the first season where you can find the new generation of Sprites in Battle Royale, although their gameplay abilities are disabled in Ranked to keep competitive play fair.
What's New in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4?
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is built around the idea of breaking the rules. Epic has added several systems that let you directly manipulate your match, from changing the rules for the entire lobby to customizing what comes out of Chests.
- New POIs: Visit Stone Sanctum, Green Hill Zone, and Reality's Reign.
- Match Overrides: Capture Override Consoles to change the rules for the entire server.
- Lobby Hacks: Enter codes in the new Admin Panel to earn rewards and alter your game.
- Loot Hacks: Spend Sprite Dust to customize your Chest loot.
- Cheat Codes: Find hidden codes around the Island to free Sprite allies.
- New Sprites: Collect Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Klombo, Crown, and other Sprites with unique abilities.
- New Gizmos: Use special consumables to locate Cheat Codes, speed up Sprite extraction, call Supply Drops, and more.
- New weapons and items: Get your hands on the Mega Buster, 8-Bit Shotgun, Midas' Masterpiece, Tetris Rift, 1-Up Token, and God Mode Llama.
- Unvaulted weapons: Several fan-favorite weapons and items are back in the loot pool.
New Map Locations in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
The Island has three major new locations to explore in Chapter 7 Season 4. If you're looking for the new seasonal content, these are the places to start.

- Stone Sanctum: Uncover the secrets of this ancient location.
- Green Hill Zone: Race through Sonic-inspired loops and keep your speed up.
- Reality's Reign: Explore a strange area filled with pipes, power cables, and mysterious machinery.
New Weapons and Items in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4

If you thought Fortnite couldn't get any more chaotic, the new loot pool would like a word. Chapter 7 Season 4 adds several weapons and items inspired by classic gaming icons, and some of them have mechanics you won't find anywhere else.
Sonic Power Sneakers
Sonic Power Sneakers let you charge a grounded Spin Dash or perform an airborne Spin Attack. They're perfect if you want to move around the Island quickly and make your rotations feel a lot more like Sonic's Green Hill Zone.
Mega Buster
Mega Man's Mega Buster fires single energy pellets, quick-charged shots, and long-charged explosive projectiles. Even better, you can use it while sprinting or slide-boosting, giving you plenty of options during fast-paced fights.
8-Bit Shotgun
The 8-Bit Shotgun is an automatic shotgun designed to look like a retro 8-bit console. It has cartridge-style reloads, pixel effects, and a built-in scoreboard that tracks your combo multiplier.
Midas' Masterpiece
Midas' Masterpiece is a single-fire golden pistol capable of eliminating an enemy with a single headshot. There's a catch, though: its ammunition is limited, so make those shots count.
Tetris Rift
The Tetris Rift brings falling Tetris pieces to Fortnite. The sequence ends with the iconic four-line clear, which creates a large area-of-effect heal. It's one of those items that sounds completely ridiculous until you see it in an actual match.
1-Up Token
The 1-Up Token gives you another chance after being eliminated. When it activates, you respawn with your full inventory, making this one of the most valuable items you can find if you're carrying a strong loadout.
God Mode Llama
The God Mode Llama lets you tap into the Llama's power and become an Unstoppable Wrecking Ball. If you see one, expect things to get chaotic very quickly.
All Unvaulted Weapons in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
Epic has also brought several familiar weapons and items back into Battle Royale. Here's everything unvaulted with the v42.00 update:
- Pump Shotgun
- Assault Rifle
- Ranger Assault Rifle
- Drum Gun
- Minigun
- Tactical Pistol
- Dual Pistols
- Oni Shotgun
- Flare Gun
- Bass Boost
- Overdrive Grenade
- Chug Splash
How Do Match Overrides Work in Fortnite?

Match Overrides are probably the biggest gameplay addition in Chapter 7 Season 4. Override Consoles appear in every match, and whoever reaches one first can rewrite the rules for the entire server. There's no hiding after you claim one, either. Your name appears around the console base so the entire lobby knows who's currently in control.
Rare and Mythic Squad Overrides work slightly differently. They only benefit the first squad to claim them, but there's a big downside: claiming one broadcasts your squad's location on the map.
All Match Overrides in Fortnite
- Sonic Speed: Increase your sprint speed over time.
- More XP: Gain more XP from eliminations, looting, and surviving the Storm.
- Loot Hack: Get a Loot Hack item from the next Chest you open.
- Extra Life: Respawn once when you're on the brink of elimination.
- Big Fish: Turn all Fishing Holes golden.
- Constant Heal: Regenerate Health and Shield over time while you're out of combat.
- Infinite Stamina: Gain unlimited stamina.
- Headshot: Deal increased headshot damage.
- Overshield: Gain an additional or new Overshield.
- Speed Shooter: Increase weapon fire and reload speeds.
- Big Loot: Increase your chances of finding Epic or Legendary loot from Chests.
- Power Pickaxe: Make your Pickaxe hits deal massive damage.
If you're wondering which Override is best, it depends on where you are in the match. Big Loot is excellent early on, while Extra Life, Constant Heal, and Overshield can become much more valuable when you're trying to survive into the late game.
What Are Lobby Hacks in Fortnite?
Lobby Hacks are codes that you can enter into the new Admin Panel in the Battle Royale Lobby. Depending on the code, you can receive XP and Sprite Dust, warp reality for your squad, or even make rare Sprite variants appear.
So, yes, Fortnite now has something that is basically an in-game cheat-code menu. Just don't expect it to let you turn on unlimited V-Bucks.
What Are Cheat Codes in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4?
During a match, you can find Cheat Codes hidden around the Island. They can be tucked inside POIs or sprayed onto walls, so keep your eyes open while exploring.
Interact with a Cheat Code and enter the correct sequence to free a Sprite ally. The classic Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right sequence also makes an appearance, which is exactly the kind of gaming reference you'd expect from this season.
All Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
Sprites are back with a completely new collection of companions. Unlike the previous season, many of these Sprites have abilities that can directly affect your movement, combat, healing, or loot.
| Sprite name | Description |
|---|---|
| Klombo Sprite | A very rare Sprite that grants random items at each level. It can only be leveled up with consumables that restore Health or Shield. |
| Sonic Sprite | Makes you sprint faster. |
| Tails Sprite | Lets you hover with Tails' help. |
| Shadow Sprite | Automatically reloads weapons over time, even when they're not equipped. |
| Jackrabbit Sprite | Gives you an additional mid-air jump. |
| 8-Bit Sprite | Gives you an 8-Bit Shotgun from your first Chest and provides a score multiplier for it. |
| Crown Sprite | Gives you additional Crown Wins after a Victory Royale. It can only be leveled up by winning matches. |
| Adventure Sprite | Upgrades a random item in your inventory at each level. |
| Bush Sprite | Spawns a Bush around you after a set duration. At max level, you can also get a Bush when eliminated. |
| Jonesy Sprite | After taking damage, eventually restores some Health or Shield. |
| Killswitch Sprite | Lets you enter Hangtime with improved accuracy. |
What Is Sprite Garden?
If you spent Season 3 collecting Sprites, you don't have to say goodbye to them. The Sprites from Season 3: Runners are being preserved in Sprite Garden, active starting August 21. Sprite Garden lets you play with your old Sprites and show your collection to friends, while the new generation remains available to collect on the Season 4 Island.
Sprite Quality-of-Life Changes
Epic also made collecting Sprites a little less annoying. You can now see during a match whether you've already collected a particular Sprite, while a Sprite's name appears when you're close enough to identify it.
Summoning rare Sprites and variants also costs less Sprite Dust, and the button-hold time required to summon a Sprite has been reduced.
What Are Loot Hacks in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4?
Loot Hacks let you spend Sprite Dust to customize the items that can appear from Chests. Hacked items have a chance to drop whenever you open a Chest and are tied to your own Loot Hack configuration.
You can reset your Loot Hack configuration whenever you want by spending Sprite Dust, so don't be afraid to experiment and find a setup that fits your preferred playstyle.
All New Gizmos in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
Gizmos are consumable items that give you shortcuts for finding and extracting Sprites. The new season adds four Gizmos to the pool:
- Cheat Code Locator: Locates the nearest Cheat Code.
- Extraction Accelerator: Silently starts a nearby Extraction Site and instantly summons the Extraction Crate.
- Llama Supply Drop: Calls a boosted Llama-themed Supply Drop to your current location.
- Spicy Taco: Heals you and provides a speed and stamina boost. Your squad can also join you for a Taco Time party.
When Are the Golden Hours in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4?

The first Golden Hours take place on August 22, with Gold Sprite variants being hacked into the Island during two Power Hour windows.
- 2 PM to 4 PM ET
- 9 PM to 11 PM ET
During the event, you'll have an additional Portable Extractor available to help with Sprite collection, a 1-Up Token, and an increased chance of finding Midas' Masterpiece.
Epic says weekly activity roadmaps will be shared every Sunday for the rest of the season, so there should be plenty more events to look forward to.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Ranked Rewards
Ranks have been reset for the new season, giving everyone another chance to climb toward Unreal and earn the new Ranked rewards.
- Gold: Phantom Spray
- Platinum: Override Counter Back Bling
- Diamond: Beastly Battle Bus Loading Screen
- Elite: The Hack 'n Slasher Pickaxe
- Champion: Overridden Wrap
- Unreal: The Unrealizer Pickaxe
Sprites are also available in Ranked this season, but their gameplay powers are disabled. You can collect them and have them accompany you, but they won't give you their usual combat or movement advantages.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Pass
Sonic the Hedgehog headlines the Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Pass, with the Tails Sidekick joining him. There are also special bonuses for buying or gifting the Battle Pass early in the season:
- Buy the Battle Pass before August 27 at 11:59 PM ET: Get the Infiltrator Grace Crowne Outfit and accessories as a launch-week bonus.
- Gift the Battle Pass during the season: You and the friend receiving the gift both get the Peril Peak Mali Outfit and accessories.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Collaborations
Gaming crossovers are everywhere this season. Epic has confirmed the following franchises will receive new Fortnite content throughout Chapter 7 Season 4:
- KINGDOM HEARTS
- Pac-Man
- Mega Man
- Persona 5 Royal
- Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
- 99 Nights in the Forest
- Crash Bandicoot
- Spyro the Dragon, including his iconic legacy look
More crossover items are also planned for later in the season, including the Kingdom Key from KINGDOM HEARTS and Rebecca's Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Fortnite's New Quests Tab
Epic has redesigned the Quests tab to make it easier to keep track of everything you're working on. Existing and new quest categories now appear in one scrollable view, while a new sidebar lets you jump directly to a specific category.
Collections have also been integrated into the Quests view, so you can track Characters, Victory Royales, Match Eliminations, and other Accolades without jumping between different tabs.
The redesigned Quests tab is rolling out gradually, so you may not see it immediately.
Fortnite Fog of War Changes
Fog of War has also been changed. Instead of revealing an entire POI at once, your map now uncovers individual landmarks as you explore them.
This gives you a much better idea of which parts of the Island you've actually visited and makes map exploration a little more useful.
Controller Tweak Zone in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
The Tweak Zone controller setting introduced in Chapter 7 Season 3 remains available. It lets you use small thumbstick movements that would normally be ignored by your dead zone, giving you more precise crosshair control. You can adjust the Tweak Zone area, crosshair sensitivity, and when the feature activates from your Controller settings.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Patch Notes - Bug Fixes and Quality-of-Life Changes
Version 42.00 isn't just about new content. Epic has also made a long list of fixes and performance improvements across PC, console, and mobile.
- PC: Shader precaching has been optimized to reduce loading times and gray placeholder objects, while game startup can be up to two seconds faster depending on your setup.
- Console: Map loading has been improved on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
- Victory Royale: The Victory Royale screen now appears immediately after winning instead of being delayed.
- Aim Assist: An issue causing Aim Assist to pull away from enemies moving up or down hills has been fixed.
- Gameplay: Epic fixed several issues involving weapons, Glider redeployment, fall damage in shallow water, vehicle desync, and other gameplay problems.
- Mobile: Several improvements were made to Auto Fire, Aim Assist, Voice Chat, Portable Extractors, controller binds, and Tap Anywhere Fire Mode.
Best Tips for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
Chapter 7 Season 4 gives you a lot of new toys to play with, but some of them are much more useful than others depending on how you play. Here are a few things I'd prioritize when dropping into the new season.
- Go for Override Consoles. A good Match Override can give you an advantage for the rest of the game, but remember that everyone will know you're in control.
- Don't blindly grab Squad Overrides. The buff can be great, but broadcasting your squad's location can be a death sentence if you're not ready for a fight.
- Collect Sprites early. Sonic, Tails, Shadow, and Jackrabbit are particularly useful if you value movement and mobility.
- Use Sprite Dust wisely. Loot Hacks can significantly improve your Chest loot, so don't waste all your Dust on unnecessary summons.
- Keep a Cheat Code Locator. If you're hunting for Sprites, this Gizmo can save you a lot of running around the Island.
- Save Midas' Masterpiece ammo. A one-shot headshot is great, but missing with a limited-ammo weapon is painful.
- Use movement Sprites for rotations. Sonic, Tails, and Jackrabbit can make crossing the Island much easier.
- Remember the Ranked restriction. Sprites are available in Ranked, but their gameplay abilities don't work there.
