Bendy returns in this latest mind-bending installment in the series. It's a dark game, with dark themes, but overall it's a fun experience if you're into creepy vibes and open-ended mystery. So let's dive in and see how well I kept my sanity while making this walkthrough. Enjoy.
Starting the Game
Bendy: Secrets of the Machine offers no guidance at all. So here I am to explain, briefly, the core mechanics of the game. Here are the most important things to keep in mind as you go along.
- Standard WASD movement controls, look around with the mouse.
- E is for interacting with the world — opening doors, picking up cans, etc.
- Left mouse button (LMB) is for throwing cans.
- Right mouse button (RMB) is for eating cans.
Lost yet? Don't worry, it'll all make sense in a moment.
The walkthrough for Bendy: Secrets of the Machine
You'll start off in front of an ominous-looking archway. Head through it and towards the house. Survive the first jumpscare, and go inside of the building.
Old Time Theatre
Go down the hallway and take a right when you can. Head to the end of this hall and you'll see an ink tunnel (kinda looks like a wormhole thing). Head through and you'll find yourself in a room with a large pedestal or stage in the middle. There are four doors in this room. The one you came through (it's locked now); the door to your right (east), the door opposite you (north), and a barricaded door to your left (west).
To your right is a vending machine with an arrow on it. Head over to it and hit 'E' while facing the arrow.
A can will pop out of the machine. To unlock the old-time theatre, you'll need to throw three cans into the pipe seen in the above screenshot, and below.
The barricaded door will open up, and you'll see a new character, Guffie, wearing an empty can of beans for a hat. He will welcome you to the theatre and invite you to enjoy the show. Grab another can and head inside.
Throw your can at the screen to watch a short and rather cryptic movie. We see the words "Submit, Reject, and Gent" which means that this movie may be sponsored by Gent themselves. You'll also find a neon popcorn sign in this room.
You can smash this sign by throwing a can at it, and you'll reveal a hidden poster in this room featuring a well-known character from the Bendy universe. There's also a reaper's scythe on the floor near this new poster. It's easy to spot, you'll see it.
The final hidden secret in the theatre room only unlocks after eating countless amounts of bacon soup, and we'll discuss that separately.
The Teaser TV Room
Enter this room by going through the northern door. In it, you'll find a television with four dials or targets — two on either side. You can flip these dials by hitting them with a can of food. There are various combinations, but if you'd like to discover them for yourself, skip the below slider, which contains all of the teasers and images possible to display on the screen.
The last secret in this room is the mystery box. It's easy to spot - it's just a box with some question marks on it. To reveal the secret, you'll need to use E to interact with this box over 400 times. The surprise may not be totally worth it, but I'll let you be the judge here.
The Gent Ending (Original)
This is arguably the way the game was meant to be played and reveals the core story. It's time to open up the eastern door. Grab some cans and smash each of these brightly lit windows.
Once both are smashed, you'll be able to go through the door. In the next room, simply walk forward and you'll enter a room with a portrait, some chairs, a gramophone, and a grandfather clock. Wait for the portrait to light up and grab the pen that is on the portrait.
On the eastern wall, you'll find a range of ages written down. Interact with this wall to add another age.
Behind you, on the floor, some blank pages will have appeared. Interact with each of these to reveal an innocent, charming kid's drawing. Once you've filled out all four, you'll hear what appears to be a motorcycle crashing. I believe it's supposed to be a car though.
The portrait will turn bloody, and let's not think too much about the sad situation this scene portrays. Let's move on.
The door should unlock and let you out into a hallway. Go to the end of the hall where a light will click on and you'll be able to listen in on a conversation. Once the light goes out, knock on the door (hit E).
Turn around, and a gramophone should have appeared in the hallway. Listen to its delightfully creepy message. Facing the gramophone, two doors will have lights click on. Knock on either of the doors and wait a while. The door behind the gramophone will swing open.
Head through the open door, and back into the room with the portrait. You'll notice a few changes, such as the addition of a drawing desk. The age wall has also changed. Interact with it again.
On the chair to your left (while facing the age wall), you'll notice a blank page. Pick it up, and place it on the drawing table (all using E). Interact with the page to create a charming drawing (Yes, that's sarcasm).
Next, a knock should sound at the door. A letter will slide into the room under the door. Read it.
Now turn back and grab your drawing off the table. The door should unlock now and you'll be faced with another hallway. There are drawing tables on either side of you. Once you're through the door, it should close and you can fill out all the drawings on the desks in this room.
After that, the door at the end of the hallway will light up. Another letter will slide under the door. Give it a read.
Once done, the door at the other end of the hallway will swing open to reveal a bottle of Gent. Interact with the bottle.
You'll find yourself back at the start of the game. As you enter the arch, pay attention to the ground. If you see an arrow, you'll have to run the other way and into the darkness (the house will be boarded up).
Once you've run far enough you'll find the archway again and the house will no longer be boarded up. Go inside.
You'll notice the only way to go is straight, so follow the hallway to the end to find a car. It's safe, you can approach it.
And that is the end of our story. Now, what other secrets can we find in the game?
All Secrets in Bendy: Secrets of the Machine
The Techno Scene
Are you ready to eat 23 cans of bacon soup?
To unlock this secret, obtain and eat tins of bacon soup (ignore the beans and golden cans) until your character lets out a little burp. It took me 23 tins, but I've also seen cases where players only had to eat about 17.
Once you burp, grab a can and go to the poster in the screenshot. It can be found in the theatre on the western wall. Throw the can at it and it should go away, revealing a hole in the wall.
Interact (E) with the hole and enjoy!
Bendy Attacks
You've probably noticed these cardboard cutouts of Bendy sitting around the place. This secret involves destroying them. To destroy a cardboard cutout, throw a can at it.
There are four cutouts in the main stage room (where the vending machine is), two in the television room, and two in the theatre. Hit each one with a can, and enjoy this secret little ending.
The Scary Robot
You've likely also noticed this weird robot. As soon as you destroy just one cardboard cutout, it will start to follow you around when you're not looking. Well, there's a secret here.
Keep getting cans from the vending machine until you find a golden bacon soup. You'll know it when you see it - the can glows, unlike the others.
Take this can in your hand, and touch the robot with it. You'll end up back at the archway. Follow the arrow into the darkness once more, and enter the house. Once inside, go straight down this hallway, past the openings. Near the end of this hallway, you'll find the robot Bendy again.
This time, throw the can at it.
You'll end up back at the archway once more. But... something's not quite right, is it? Enjoy this delightful ending — it's one of two true endings I've managed to find.
Grozzie Kills Bendy: Secrets of the Machine
This is Guffie. You can learn about him by eating a tin of beans, and then checking the outside wall of the room with the television in it. He's mostly harmless, unless you keep throwing cans at his head.
To unlock this secret, open the movie theatre, but grab a can while you head towards it. Instead of going inside, throw your can at Guffie. Pick it back up, and repeat this until you find the other true ending of the game.
Final TV Room Secret
This last secret requires you to go back to the TV room. Get the dials or targets to line up as follows:
You should see a light click on high above the exit of this room. Take a can and throw it at the light. When you hit it, something odd will happen. Not much of a secret, but do you know who that is?
And that is all the known hidden endings to Bendy: Secrets of the Machine. The developer is still updating the game regularly and adding new content, so be sure to check back and have a game every once in a while. Who knows, you might be the first to find new secrets!
